Loose some fonts from woody to sid ?
Hi, Since I have upgraded my woody to unstable SID ... I have loosed the Helvetica font, and also the Fixed [Jis] and Fixed [Sony] ... I have solved the trouble for Helvetica removing the comment in the file /etc/fonts/local.conf dir/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/dir ... But the helvetica font is not so beautiful as before in woody ... seems to be anti-aliased ... but I always missed the Fixed [Jis] and Fixed [Sony] ... How Can I recover my previous fonts configuration I had with Woody ?? Thansk for your help ... Regards, -- Bill Footcow

remote control without timeout
Howdi, I have a [mostly] headless server that talks to the TV, but having never got the clone thing working with the NVidia card, I usually have to control the session from a different room. I want to be able to automatically start a kde session (easy) on the server at boot-up, and then be able to VNC to it without having to set up the 'allow remote user to view / control' thing each time (not so easy). In no small part because it's really difficult to use the server's GUI directly. Any ideas? Cheers, Jedd.

I've checked the kdelibs-data package and the file /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/16x16/filesystems/folder_inbox.png is present. I have no idea why you're not seeing the icon. Any ideas ? I remember that, when using the Woody KDE3 backport, some files (namely /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/common/*) would misteriously disappear from the filesystem even though the package was installed. I never was able to find out the cause, but it did happen. So, perhaps he should check if /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/16x16/filesystems/folder_inbox.png is actually in his filesystem. Another idea would be to create a new system user and start kde and see if the problem persists (should the problem then be narrowed down to ~/.kde, for example). In no small part because it's really difficult to use the server's GUI directly. Err, you want to first-time set up the 'allow remote user to view / control' thing, you are talking of KDE Desktop sharing, I guess... Two ways: Set up that at another computer and copy the config files or start KDE inside the plain old vncserver to set up KDE's own VNC abilities. How to use PKCS certificates with kmail
Hi! I need to use a PKCS #1 MD5 With RSA Encryption certificate (this info is from mozilla, I don't know exactly what cert I have) and sign my messages with it (this is essential for my work). It signed by TrustCenter, and it works fine with mozilla. And I have to use mozilla till I can not use this certificate in kmail. So my question is, how to use this with kmail. I can export this certificate in mozilla, and it outputs a .p12 file. Is it possible to load this to kmail? Thanks for the help! Daniel -- LeVA
Why Are Some Fonts So Bad ?
I'm running KDE 3.1.4 with XFree86 4.1.0-16 on Woody, with anti-aliasing switched on, and although the desktop mostly looks pretty slick, there are still some *really* bad font renditions in some parts of some windows. For instance, the font used for the words Did you know ? in the Tip Of The Day dialogs offered by both Konsole and Kate is *awful* - it looks a mess ... utterly uneven and broken. I've put a screen-capture of the Kate Tip-Of-The-Day dialog on my website, at http://www.glimmer.demon.co.uk/kde/kate-lousy-font.png if anyone feels like having a look. Can anyone hazard a possible explanation for this ? Does anyone else see anything better looking in this dialog on their own machines ? (I use a Voodoo 3 graphics card, in case that's relevant, and the 3Dfx Voodoo 3 driver is selected in KXconfig). Cheers, Nick Boyce Bristol, UK
kde-3.2 build errors
Hello I have downloaded and recently updated kde-3.2 cvs source code. My Debian packages (.deb files) are fine, but some of them I must finish manually (dh_* scripts), because of debuild error. (debuild -rfakeroot) For example: there is no apidocs/common directory in kdebase package and some missing html files. These files and dirs are located in /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/common (from last kde 3.1.4 installation), but missing in new package. What is wrong? kde source packages or 'debian' dir in some source packages or maybe I make things wrong? I can't find any recent devel. info about this problem.
