OK, this got me quite a bit further - I can run KDE again.

Me too. The packages on download.kde.org are definitely broken, and adding
the source above only fixes some of the issues as far as I can tell. (At
least you can get X and KDE running with it though!)

In addition to the weirdness with xlibs, it looks like there are some
issues with the dependencies of defoma and dialog not being possible to
satisfy. I think that the issue is that a newer version of dialog is
needed.

Again, pointers appreciated and please Cc me on any replies.

Take care,
 Dale

The closest thing I've found is here:

http://graphics.cs.uni-sb.de/VoIP/en/config.html

I'm also writing my own based on my use on a particular SIP Proxy server
(from Nortel Networks). I only just started it, so it'll be awhile
forward I could call it complete.

I just went throught that, and followed Andreas suggestion, added:

deb http://people.debian.org/~nobse/xfree86 woody main

to my sources list, and got pas that.. I have ran into some other challenges
with some of the packages that depend on xlibs OR the newer libs from that
depository, but it did get my system into some kind of stability again, but I
am still missing a bunch of packages which don't seem to honour the
dependencies correctly yet..
