KDE Crashing - Sarge

2004-07-30 Thread Bruno Bellantuono
Folks,
I had always used Debian testing perfectly, but on 27th July I made
a dist-upgrade, as usually. Suddenly all KDE applications started
crashing just after they were closed. Applications like Knotes, Kmixer,
Korganizer, summarizing ALL KDE applications. Such a thing had never
happened to my system.
All other applications (mozilla, gaim, etc...) are working
perfectly. I've also tried to upgrade to unstable, but the crashes are
still happening.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this problem?

Regards,
Bruno

The KDE packages are priority optional, which is not affected by the
immediately upcoming freeze.

Base and Standard will be frozen soon, not the whole of Sarge, please
see the announcement at

But how can Sarge be released with 3.3 when Sarge goes into freeze in a few
days?

The other thing that bugs me (not a kde thing) is that Sarge - as it currently
seems - won't include Gimp 2.0 :-(

The release schedule of 3.3 is shorter than the one of 3.2, so I suppose it
includes less changes than previous releases, and there will be less
surprises, I hope. And if the next release after 3.3 will be KDE 4, it's
possible that the 3.3 branch will be better mantained than the 3.2 one.

Just my two cents. :)
