Bug#266742: kdelibs: ipv6-lookup problem again?
Hi, thanks for the interesting link. Unfortunately, I could not verify if setting KDE_NO_IPV6 helps because the problem has disappeared early this week. I don't know if this is related to some upgraded packages in Sid or if www.golem.de now uses a different advertising (it always seemed to me that the delay was caused by some advertising that could not be resolved). Since I can not reproduce the behaviour anymore I'm going to close the bug. Regards, Felix On Thursday 23 September 2004 23:38, Adeodato Simó wrote: * Felix Homann [Thu, 19 Aug 2004 00:19:36 +0200]: It seems as though the kdelibs package is build with '--with-ipv6-lookup=auto' while I think that '--with-ipv6-lookup=no' would be better (at least for me...) BTW, Mozilla, Opera etc. *do* load www.golem.de with reasonable speed. so does konqueror here, for me and I expect for most people too. for that reason, I don't think it may be reasonable to disable ipv6 lookups. in any case, the purpose of this mail was just to share what I just found at http://wiki.kdenews.org/tiki-index.php?page=Environment+Variables: KDE_NO_IPV6 (KDE 3.2.3) Set this variable to disable IPv6 support / IPv6 DNS lookups. so you may try if it still works and effectively resolves your problem. please write back in any case. thanks,

Hi, does the new version actually works reliable with the old KDE-3.2.3? This also pulls in new libqt3-3.3.3. Was this actually tested against KDE-3.2.2? I actually remember changes of libqt where some thing started to behave strange. How comes that such changes are in Sarge although it _might_ mess up KDE, there? UTF8 an KDE in debian sid?
Hi all, I am a bit confused about the utf8 support of KDE 3.3 in Sid. It is no cups problem because with the lp commando I can print the file corretly. Is this a KDE problem or gs ? and where can I add 'filter extentions' ? I've seen it for quite a long time now, but it doesn't seem to break anything here. Load a PDF, and I get the error in question: kghostview: WARNING: KFilterBase::findFilterByExtension : no filter found for application/pdf Then I print a page of it, and I get the second error you mentioned: kghostview: WARNING: KFilterBase::findFilterByExtension : no filter found for text/plain Yet the page emerged from my printer in perfect shape. I've printed scads of PDFs since these mysterious errors first showed up, and I just wrote it off as noise. If it ain't broke I'm running CUPS too. I have a Brother HL-1440/foomatic+hl1225.
