Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.

This file is in libxtst-dev. Adding that package to the

Don't know, but you should be able to block it simply by
adding the following line to your /etc/hosts file.

127.0.0.1 ads.osdn.com

It works here.

kde 3.3 stalls when I log in through kdm

2004-10-18 Thread alex rait
Hello,
I have Debian Sid with kde 3.3 installed on compaq armada M-700.
After the installation of kde3.3 I experience a weird problem with it -
almost every time I log in through kdm - any keystroke makes everything
stall, I can't click on anything. The only thing that continues to
function is my mouse (moves). It lasts for about 2 seconds and then I
can contintue to work with the mouse, but not with the keyboard.

If I log in through xdm or by typing startx in the console, everything
works ok, but the fonts are bigger then usual - instead of 12 it looks
like 14.

I tried to delete the .kde folder, then to remove all the folders with
my username at tmp, but alas! nothing helps.

I have a similar installation on a desktop pc and I have not encountered
any problem like this so far on it.

Any ideas?
Rait Alexandr

 MARGINHEIGHT='0' SCROLLING='no'/iframe

So I tried going into the plugin settings where I have plugins enabled

ads.osdn.com. That didn't make any difference, so I also tried adding
 slashdot.org. That didn't work either.

No.. I don't think it's flash. I can't disable it either, but I don't _have_
a flash plugin (I don't think - it's possible...).

I am using kde 3.3 from unstable.

3.2 from Sarge.

I totally agree that squid or other means to block all ad sites is serious
overkill. The redirect to 127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts isn't a bad idea, though.

Hi Nick,

he comes to initializing peripherials then it just crashes back to the
 login screen.

If you have any lines in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file like the following,
try commenting them out, or deleting them:

Option DPMS

Back when I used the version of X11 that is in woody (long, long ago), I had
the same problem, which as far as I can tell, was caused by buggy video
drivers that caused a crash when an application tried to enable Display
Power Management Signaling features. Disabling this prevented further
crashes for me.

SARGE: QT related KDE problems

2004-10-18 Thread Bernd Schubert
Hello,

on Friday evening we performed several updates including X and QT to the
current sarge version (from a previous sarge version), but no KDE update,
since we already have the most recent version.

Today morning all KDE users complained that they have colored rectangles on
their screens and also that everything is much slower than on Friday.
For the rectangles please see:

http://www.pci.uni-heidelberg.de/tc/usr/bernd/downloads/kde_trouble/bla.png

My college could narrow down this problem to the QT update, its definitely
not a X problem since it also occured in non updated X-servers as Xvnc and
also via remote applications to my X at home.

Using deb http://snapshot.debian.net/archive pool qt-x11-free as
apt-source, my college found out that the problem does not occur with
libqt3-3.2.3-2, but with libqt3-3.2.3-4 and all above versions.
Unfortunately we don't know about 3.2.3-3.

From the changelog it is not clear for us what happend, does anyone here
knows further details? Should we fill a bugreport?

Thanks,
Bernd

QT is at 3.3.3-4.1 in Sarge (also use testing-proposed-updates that offers
kdeblibs and other with version 3.2.3-sarge.2).
