Bug#291054: kdelibs4-doc: KWallet class description vanished

2005-03-11 Thread Adeodato Simó
* Alexander Reinholdt [Tue, 18 Jan 2005 14:27:55 +0100]:
 Package: kdelibs4-doc
 Version: 4:3.3.2-1
 Severity: normal

After upgrading to version 3.3.2-1 this morning, I had to find out that
the class description of KWallet vanished, i.e. the files

 /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kwallet/html/annotated.html
 /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kwallet/html/classes.html

 /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kwallet/html/functions_func.html
 /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kwallet/html/functions.html

are missing from kdelibs4-doc compared to version 4:3.3.1-4.

Uhm, I just noticed that this happens in the developers.kde.org
website as well. I mean, [1] exists while [2] doesn't.

http://developer.kde.org/documentation/library/3.2-api/kwallet/html/annotated.html
[2]
http://developer.kde.org/documentation/library/3.3-api/kwallet/html/annotated.html

I'm CCing the KWallet author to see if there is an explanation for
  this, or some error happened.

Bug#283858: kdelibs4-dev kde.pot should be symlinked to /usr/include

2005-03-11 Thread Adeodato Simó
* Andreas Pakulat [Wed, 01 Dec 2004 22:06:46 +0100]:
 Package: kdelibs4-dev
 Version: 4:3.3.1-1
 Severity: normal

 Hi,

He Andreas (and sorry for the late reply),

according to kde-config --prefix, the KDEDIR should be set to /usr,
but this prevents kde projects to create translations. According to
 various documentation a

 make -f admin/Makefile.common package-messages

should create the apropriate .po* files, but this target only works if
KDEDIR/include/kde.pot exists, which is not the case in Debian. So
  ^^

Indeed, the Makefile is at fault here, assuming that the installation
dir for includes is always $KDEDIR/include, since they can be elsewhere
(e.g., in Debian they are under /usr/include/kde).

either there should be a /usr/share/kde with apropriate symlinks (as
for QT) or there should be a symlink /usr/include/kde.pot which points
 to the correct file.

Well, these would be workarounds for the real bug. Instead, I'll send
a patch upstream so that the issue gets fixed in the proper place.
Also, though I can imagine you already use some kind of workaround
yourself, I recommend that you invoke make like this:

$ make -f admin/Makefile.common includedir=/usr/include/kde package-messages

  Notice the includedir=/usr/include/kde extra bit.

Bug#283858: admin/cvs.sh/extract_messages: location of kde.pot

2005-03-11 Thread Adeodato Simó
Hello,

kde-config supports '--install include' for a while now, so I wonder
if it wouldn't make sense to use that to determine the location of the
kde.pot file in admin/cvs.sh. As in:

--- admin/cvs.sh~ 2005-02-23 12:56:27.0 +0100

Otherwise, the location is bogus for systems with $includedir !=
$prefix/include, such as Debian (we use /usr/include/kde). See e.g.
  http://bugs.debian.org/283858.

If support for KDEDIR is important, one could use:

prefix=${KDEDIR:-`kde-config --prefix`}
kdepotpath=${includedir:-$(eval echo `kde-config --install
include`)}/kde.pot

If any of the above has flaws, I'll be glad to get noticed.

  Thanks,

I ran through a rather big dist-upgrade lately, so
I still did not sort out all of the things that broke :(
However, I figures that when setting kdm's
/etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc from within KDE's internal tool for
that (Anmeldungsmanager in German, I'd guess logon manager)
I have a huge problem when setting the
Language= line. KDE gave me only en_US or de to choose
from and in both cases running a KDE session did not give
me the umlauts (üäöÄÖÜ) that I typed on the keyboard any more
for certain programs such as xterm or konsole. openoffice.org,
xev, kword all worked however.

I wonder if this has something to do with
#289143: kdm: does not source $HOME/.profile anymore

I'm running xfree86 4.3 and friends from today's Debian
unstable.

Regards,
Enver

I've tried to edit kdm's window color through the KDE Control Center --
System administration -- Login manager, Color Settings (don't know if
the right titles are these, 'cause I'm using an italian i18n). But kdm's
window remains grey. Then I've even tried to copy ~/.kde/share/config/
settings into /root/.kde/share/config/, but no way.

 Hello,

I think there's a bug that was not in KDE 3.2 with konqueror :

With a HTML textarea inside a webpage, with a lot of content, if I
scroll down the textarea and then click inside the textarea, the
textarea is scrolled up to the top of the content. This is quite
 annoying.

This happens only if use the scrollbar before clicking inside the
 textarea first.

I can't reproduce this, does still happen for you? Perhaps someone on

Hello,

The Edit/Search... tool does not permit to search for a string
contained in a textarea. It would make sense that it does so, as one
editing a text may want to search for a specific string in it.

so if the bug exists, it's fixed in 3.4

Right click on the field and choose the last item in the context menu. In
the new dialog, you can easily edit the recent addresses.
If some other smart things happen in KMail: use the source.

That would only work if this address really was in Recently Used addresses.
The whole problem is that it isn't. You can't edit it in KMail, and you
can't modify kmailrc.

AFAIK, kmail takes the adresses from your sentbox or sth like that,
so try to delete the mails with the bad adress in it and restart

They are saved in the ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc file.

This does not correspond to any of my experiences.

Are you perhaps talking about an old Identity that needs to be removed
 from Settings/Configure KMail?
Can you send a small screenshot that shows exactly what you are talking
 about?

Definitely not. I do have a lot of identities, but this isn't one of them.
When I start typing derek in an address box, one of the addresses offered
to me is Derek Broughton [EMAIL PROTECTED]. That hasn't been in an

I don't like to file a bug without knowing something's wrong - in this case,
it _seems_ wrong, but it would help if I had a clue where the address was

Is possible that this address is listed in your addressbook?

AHA! Thanks, Alejandro. I had searched before, and I can't _see_ it in the
address book, but I still thought it really had to be there somehow. This
time I started searching from Konqueror in the vcf files and it turns out to
be a second email address for a contact. Now I know what to file as a bug at
kde.org - the address book search should return the same results as the

Switching Konqueror between proxy and non-proxy locations

2005-03-11 Thread David Goodenough
I have two laptops which I need to configure so that they can easily be
switched between a location where they require a proxy to reach the
outside world from Konqueror and one where they do not. I will have
a set of scripts which handle the change of IP addresses (one is static
the other dhcp) and I would like to update Konqueror as well to reflect
the proxy requirement. The one with the proxy is the one with static
IP addresses.

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards

David

I have konquereor configured to use the http_proxy environment
variable, and source /etc/use-proxy in my shell startup scripts and
the Xsession. /etc/use-proxy is generated by the network startup
scripts to contain the appropriate code to set the environment.

An alternative for configuration items where the application itself cannot be
persuaded to use a shell environment, is this:

Perhaps someone on
  debian-kde can reproduce?

I cannot, but I use konqueror-3.4.0-0pre1

so if the bug exists, it's fixed in 3.4
