Bug#322868: Building with debug symbols should be easy

2005-08-13 Thread Martin Samuelsson
Package: qt-x11-free
Version: 3:3.3.4-3

Trying to find more info on #322522 I decided to recompile qt with
debugging symbols. However, I don't feel like editing all the Makefiles
and all just to do it.

The Debian Policy Manual, section 10.1 states that I could expect the
following to work for all packages.

DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip dpkg-buildpackage

But with this package's build process, it doesn't.

Bug#322915: uninstallable

2005-08-13 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Package: libqt3-mt
Version: 3:3.3.4-7

Hi,

libqt3-mt, and thus qt3-dev-tools, qt3-dev, and qt3-mt-dev are
uninstallable:

It conflicts with libqt3c102-mt, which most KDE packages depend on.
So it is currently impossible to compile Qt programs.

regards
Hadmut

Re: multiple addresses at kmail composer's text completion

Anyone could tell why is this happening?

That's because kmail tries to complete from both the email address, and the
name of the recipient. In this case, the mailinglists have the same name of
the adress, so you can't see the difference easily.

But if you try to find my email adress, you can begin the search with
suy... or with ale..., it will appear only once, because the adress
doesn't begin with ale and my name doesn't starts with suy.

I hope my explanation doesn't suck as much as it seems to me. :-)
Thanks for the explanation!

Re: gmail in kmail

2005-08-13 Thread Alan Ezust
Many ISPs block outgoing SMTP from sending out messages not containing
a From: or Reply-To: with ISP's address.

Which means you should be able to use gmail's smtp for sending
messages with a FROM: [EMAIL PROTECTED], and you should also be able to
use your ISP's provider for sending out e-mails that have your ISP's
address somewhere in the headers... But using one SMTP for the other's
e-mail will often not work, and that could apply to Google's smtp
server as well).

I use Kmail for my Gmail account, and I've found that certain ISP's won't let
you use a third party SMTP server. Try using your ISP's SMTP server, but
keep your recommended Gmail POP3 settings. It should work then.
