Bug#332573: konqueror: should have short-cut keys for profiles and/or views

2005-10-07 Thread rich lott
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.4.2-3
Severity: wishlist

I generally work with icon view, but frequently need to swap to tree
view. It would be great to be able to asign shortcut keys to the view
modes. alternatively, I suppose, short cut keys to the saved view
profiles.

No such problem so it is maybe a 3.4 issue.

Glad to hear it. Let us know if the KDE 3.5.0 release does not solve the
issue, when packages are uploaded a few months from now.

Bug#332647: build against dbus/hal from experimental

2005-10-07 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: kdebase
Severity: wishlist
Tags: experimental

Hi,

I'm currently trying to package (k)powersave for Debian/unstable.
Unfortunately dbus/hal in unstable are pretty outdated, (k)powersave
needs at least dbus=0.33 and hal=0.54. There are uptodate versions of
dbus/hal in experimental but an update of dbus/hal to experimental
removes a lot of the kdebase packages as they are linked against the old
dbus/hal version.

Would it be possible to provide kdebase packages for experimental
which link against the new dbus/hal packages? Kubuntu already has the
necessary patches (debian/patches/kubuntu_23_hal_api.diff) which could
be used as a basis for a Debian patch.

As it is not likely that in the near future dbus_0.50/hal_0.5.4 enters
unstable with all the currently ongoing transitions (xorg, GNOME, KDE,
gcc, etc) a version in experimental would be a great way to test the new
functionalities of hal/dbus in kdebase.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#332652: Konqueror stays transparent even when it has focus

2005-10-07 Thread Aaron Johnson

Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.4.2-3

When Konqueror is moved or resized, the window will retain the opacity of a
background application, even when it has focus. This only occurs randomly,
however. Many times, it will exhibit normal behavior. Sometimes exiting and
restarting the x server will correct the behavior. What is strange is that
javascript pop-up windows, that do not have a toolbar and opened by clicking
a link, will maintian normal transparency behavior. No other applications
that I use exhibit this behavior. This occurs whether I started it in file
manager mode or web browsing mode.

My settings are:

Control Center Window Behavior Translucency Use Translucency/Shadows
The settings are:
Translucency: Inactive window: 50%, Treat 'keep above' windows as active
ones

Shadows: Use shadows, 12, 6, 3, 75%, 75%
Effects: none selected

I am running the latest version of Debian Unstable, with KDE 3.4 and X.org.
This has occured with all Debian updates to KDE 3.4, X.org, and Linux 2.6
kernels (2.6.8 and 2.6.12). I have a an Intel 82865G onboard graphics chip
with max ram used for video. This has also occurred on my home system with a
Via Pro Savage KM266 onboard chip, with 32mb used for video, though not as
often; probably because I reboot more frequently and don't use Konqueror as
much. I have a feeling this bug will be a tough one to duplicate.

Thanks Tim.

Still cannot find a timer which overlays any other application (to run
on top of the full screen openoffice presentation).

Re: Search for a couple of utilities

2005-10-07 Thread Rigo Wenning
The fact of running on top of all other applications is just a
configuration of the X-Window window the application is running in.
Just click on the window configuration button in your
clock-application, look for Advanced and choose Keep above others
from the menu. The window will stay on top. But I don't know if
openoffice overrules that, but you might try.

Best,

Rigo

How can I sync. my USB drive with /home?

2005-10-07 Thread Robert Tilley
I wish to automate the process of continually copying the contents of my USB
drive (/media/sda1) to my /home directory.

Scripting should be able to accomplish this. Does a KDE program or applet
exist to help me in my search?

Thanks, Bob

It's not a kde applet, but rsync is excellent for this kind of thing.

I discovered something interesting while setting up an strace. It seems

Turning off the GPG plugin completely in the KMail settings seems to fix

Anyone? I can turn off signing my own messages but I can't figure out how to

a message that's signed and I try to read it, KMail freezes! It's getting
really irritating, so any help would is appreciated.
