Bug#398021: konsole: utf8 decoder can't decode multibyte characters crossing received chunks
Package: konsole Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1 Severity: normal When I ssh to a remote computer to use some UTF-8 application, characters randomly start popping up as question marks. They only appear when there should be non-ascii characters. I've looked at the source, and suspect that TEmulation::onRcvBlock will throw away incomplete sequences instead of saving them until more data arrives. To reproduce: Start an UTF-8 intensive application (mutt with graphical threading) over a slow connection, hit CTRL-L (redraw screen) a few times and you will notice question marks. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages konsole depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-2 core libraries and binaries for al ii libc6 2.3.6-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc11:4.1.1-14GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-14 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libxrender11:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxtst6 1:1.0.1-5 X11 Testing -- Resource extension konsole recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#397922: kmail: undocumented functionality change in reply to.
Am Freitag 10 November 2006 21:02 schrieb Kevin Krammer: The reply-to is not set. I did a bit of experimentation and it seems that 'r' replies to the list if reply-to is absent, but uses reply-to if present which would be even more confusing... Would be interesting to have an earlier version of KMail to check. Do you remember which version still worked the way you expected? Well I would have said the last 3.5.4 but that's not true as I just checked. My wife uses still 3.5.2(1.9.1) which already behaves like 3.5.5(1.9.5). Perhaps someone could check with the sarge version just to be sure. so long Chris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: konqueror Version: 4:3.5.1-1 Severity: important I use Privoxy (Debian version 3.0.3-2-1) to block pop-ups, spam, etc. When going to a page that doesn't exist (I've used the example http://doesntexist/) with Konqueror, Privoxy will display its own 404 page rather than Konqueror's. The page includes a try again link which, when clicked, causes Konqueror to crash. Some observations: * I'm not sure how long this bug has existed, but I've used Privoxy without error for many months, so it's a recent change. * Firefox doesn't crash in the same situation. * The page loads fine at first, and the reloaded page is identical to the first * I've tried saving the 404 page to disk, and editing the try again link to point back to the same file on the disk. It doesn't crash. * I'm behind a wireless router, and my ISP's DNS servers seem to currently be down. It's possible that there's some strange interaction going on between any combination of these systems. My ISP is NTL, I live in England. * As of tonight, this bug is completely reproducible. The complete procedure is: I use the fluxbox window manager, and have killed kdeinit etc. since the last time Konqueror crashed. Konqueror has previously been set up to use Privoxy on localhost port 127.0.0.1. 1) Start kdeinit from the command-line 1) Start konqueror from the command-line. My setup loads slashdot.org in the first tab, and has a second empty tab. 2) Change to the empty tab 3) Type http://doesntexist/; in the address bar and hit enter 4) click try again. 5) Konqueror crashes I've included the KDE backtrace, and an Ethereal (libpcap format) dump of all the traffic going through my system in that time - obviously this includes a little noise. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages konqueror depends on: ii kcontrol 4:3.5.1-1 control center for KDE ii kdebase-kio-plugins 4:3.5.1-1 core I/O slaves for KDE ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.1-4 core libraries for all KDE applica ii kdesktop 4:3.5.1-1 miscellaneous binaries and files f ii kfind 4:3.5.1-1 file-find utility for KDE ii libacl1 2.2.35-1 Access control list shared library ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libattr1 2.4.31-1 Extended attribute shared library ii libaudio2 1.7-5 The Network Audio System (NAS). Bug#284699: Not willing to help
Would you be willing to help do this, find replacement icons, etc.? The rest of the team is pretty much swamped right now, so help would be much appreciated, especially with the Etch freeze coming. I have kde-svn access, so I can ensure that good fixes make 3.5.5. Thanks, Christopher Martin After asking upstream about their licensing policy for non-code in http://lists.kde.org/?t=11609800522r=1w=2n=8 I doubt upstream would consider Debian changes good fixes. Sorry but I'm not willing to do a full inspection just for Debian not to try changing upstream's policy. Bug#398132: kspread crashes upon opening OOo generated OASIS file
Package: kspread Version: 1:1.6.0-3 Severity: normal I have an OOo generated OASIS format spreadsheet, which I'm trying to open with kspread. Command kspread demot.ods produces just a *huge* (1710, to be exact) number of messages like QTime::setHMS Invalid time -1:-1:-1.000 After these, kspread segfaults. I attached the backtrace. -Juha -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16+juhaj+radeonpatch+v1.4 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kspread depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-3 core libraries and binaries for al ii kexi 1:1.6.0-3 integrated database environment fo ii koffice-libs 1:1.6.0-3 common libraries and binaries for ii libc6 2.5-0exp1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc11:4.1.1-19GCC support library ii libice61:1.0.1-2 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-7PNG library - runtime ii libqt3-mt 3:3.3.7-1 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 1:1.0.1-3 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-19 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-2 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 1:1.0.1-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13compression library - runtime kspread recommends no packages. -- no debconf information (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library /lib/libthread_db.so.1. Re: Kmail does not delete old mail headers
Am Donnerstag, 9. November 2006 11:01 schrieb Rigo Wenning: In kmailrc, look for an entry that says compressable=false for your mail-folder. Set it to true and compress. I got the issue a year ago. So it might work if you use sarge. Don't know about newer versions. All folders are compressable. I already checked this. I think, this flag indicates, if the mailbox is compressable or not. In my case kmail's local copy of all mail headers is not compressed and contains headers even for empty folders. regards, Jörg -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. problems starting KDE after xorg update
I did an apt-get upgrade, upgrading both xserver-xorg (7.0-7.1) and kde (3.5.4 to 3.5.5). Following this, I had trouble starting the xserver, which was fixed by updating my xorg.conf to use the new /usr/share/fonts/X11... directories. Now, I can start X with twm and kdm works fine, but once I start my kde session (from startkde or kdm), kde spends a *really* long time at initializing system services, then eventually loads what looks like a kde desktop with kicker running and everything, but the kmenu doesn't respond to clicks and right-clicking the desktop does nothing. Any ideas? Dan PS. I'm not subscribed to the mailing list, but I'll be checking it regularly. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Re: xorg not installing - Fixed?
On Friday 03 November 2006 12:44, Florian Kulzer wrote: That's the last line of output. If I try to reinstall discover, however, aptitude simply tries to install xorg again and it freezes again. apt-get does the same. There's also no change if I do an aptitude clean and then try to download the package again. I think there are two possible approaches: 1) Find out why discover fails. You can run it yourself as root with the -d option. Maybe you will get some error messages that explain the behavior of the postinst script. discover on its own reports each piece of hardware multiple times in a row, then seems to freeze after reporting my video card three times: nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600/GeForce 6600 GT] The card was installed a few months ago, and I know things have been upgraded since then. If I run discover -v (verbose), then it doesn't get very far at all: rigel:~# discover -v Loading XML data... ata pci pcmcia scsi usb Done Scanning buses... ata pci pcmcia scsi usb Then it freezes. Ctrl+C doesn't even work. 2) You decide that you do not care about 1) and just get rid of discover: Another thing to try is if discover1 works better than discover: http://ftp.debian.org/pool/main/d/discover1/ Now this is fascinating. If I just switch directly to discover1: aptitude install discover1 Then it removes discover, installs discover1, sees that xserver-xorg is not fully installed and successfully installs it! Whatever the difference is between discover and discover1, it looks like discover is broken on my system but discover1 isn't. Very weird. I'm going to try restarting X and see if it survives. If you don't hear from me, it means my system is dead. ;-) Thanks. -- Larry Garfield AIM: LOLG42 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ICQ: 6817012 If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of every one, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. -- Thomas Jefferson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
