Bug#514269: plasma is not sending a notify refresh to some applications

When the task label popup shows up, the clock popup region over the konsole windows will be erased and, eventually, substituted by the contents of some window covered by it. It seems that plasma, or kwin maybe, is not sending the refresh needed event to konsole. Another application behaving like konsole is lyx. I think this happens with all applications. This is a bug somewhere in X and not Plasma (at least the Plasma people told me that some time ago). /Armin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#514107: [kmail] crash when deleting emails
Am Wednesday 04 February 2009 12:03:22 schrieb Armin Berres: Could you please update the Qt 4 packages to 4.4.3-2? It is likely that the issue is fixed then. Please report if the problem is gone or persists with the updated packages. The problem hasn't happened anymore after I upgraded to the 4.4.3-2 qt packages. This is a strong indicator, that the upgrade solved the problem. :-) Please close the bug report. -- Thomas Koch, YMC AG, http://www.ymc.ch Phone: +41 (0)71 / 508 24 86 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#514374: /usr/bin/keditfiletype: keditfiletype ignores changes
Package: kcontrol Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 Severity: minor File: /usr/bin/keditfiletype keditfiletype ignores changes I'm trying to associate f.e. *.wmv's with xine. So i right click on the wmv to change it's properies with keditfiletype. But though i put xine in first position and the other programs behind it, still the next program after xine is used. Even if i remove all other programs from the list, xine is not being used. Instead nothing happens and KDE-init complains it cannot start. This bug is bothering me since Etch's first days. Now it continues in Lenny. Therefore i report this bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kcontrol depends on: ii kdebase-data 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6shared data files for the KDE base ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny1 core libraries and binaries for al ii kicker 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6desktop panel for KDE ii libc62.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.7-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1.1 GCC support library ii libgl1-mesa-glx 7.0.3-7 A free implementation of the OpenG ii libglu1-mesa [li 7.0.3-7 The OpenGL utility library (GLU) ii libqt3-mt3:3.3.8b-5+b1 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libraw1394-8 1.3.0-4 library for direct access to IEEE ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-15 SSL shared libraries ii libstdc++6 4.3.2-1.1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-13 userspace USB programming library ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.9-1 X cursor management library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxft2 2.1.12-3FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxrandr2 2:1.2.3-1 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii usbutils 0.73-10 Linux USB utilities Versions of packages kcontrol recommends: ii udev 0.125-7/dev/ and hotplug management daemo Versions of packages kcontrol suggests: ii khelpcente 4:4.0.0.really.3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 help center for KDE pn ntpdate | none(no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Re: Uninstall noatun
I think you are right. So, the improvement would be something like re-registering the file associations for players. For example, if I run: vlc --register-with-kde mplayer --register-with-kde noatun --register-with-kde it would register and place on top all the file associations it knows about. What do you think? Does is worth sending it to bugs.kde.org Regards -- santilin Enzo Cappa wrote: I don think that's a bug. If you have a preferred player, it wouldn't be nice that anytime that you install another, it changes. There are many players in GNU/Linux, and many of them are based on KDE. I have around 4 installed, and I use it in different situations. I'm sure that Noatun isn't the better one, but it's the default for the KDE package, maybe because for most people is enough. Anyway, you can ask the developers of KDE for that improvement if you think it would be a good thing, in https://bugs.kde.org . If you installed the kde metapackage I guess you need to go through the single packages it pulls in and decide on a per-package basis which ones you need, then you can remove kde without loosing all the rest, which I guess? is your problem. Or, in simple terms: aptitude remove noatun as admin if it is not. Christoph I think is easier. Right click on the file, and select the item Properties. The you will see a description of the file, and a icon with a tool, click on it. There you will see a list of the preferred application for that kind of files. Also you can select a application for open a file one time only in the item Open with Enzo I wonder why vlc or kaffine are not put on top of file associations after installing them. After making a fresh install of debian/kde, noatun is the default player. Then, I install vlc and kaffeine and amarok. Why are them not put at the top of the file associations? Is this a feature or a bug? --santilin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
