aptitude safe-upgrade does remove packages, but only if they're safe to remove
(doesn't break another package).

And aptitude equivalent command to apt-get dist-upgrade is aptitude full-
upgrade.

Personally I always do an aptitude safe-upgrade and if packages are held back
and I want them now, I'll try with aptitude -s full-upgrade to figure out what
will happen and if I'm ok with that, do the full-upgrade.

Re: Dolphin can't browse sshfs mounts

2009-06-12 Thread Diederik de Haas
I've seen the same behavior as you did, having disappear a folder mounted with
sshfs in Dolphin. But I've only had it 2 times, all the other times it works
as expected.
Haven't found a way to reproduce it either.

I just tried this, but it still doesn't work.

I'm not saying that. However, filing non-RC bug at the Debian BTS is not
very productive in this case.

The bug exists upstream, so any Debian bug would simply be tagged upstream,
and forwarded to the URL the OP mentioned. The Debian bug would serve only
as a placeholder/notification.

With RC bugs, this is useful since it prevents automatic migration from
unstable to testing and is tracked closely for the release of testing as
stable. In addition tools like rc-alert and apt-listbugs only show RC level
bugs (by default).

With non-RC bugs, is it not so useful. If the reporter doesn't do the
tagging and forwarding, it "wastes" the Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers time. If
the report does do the tagging and forwarding, well, at least then it
doesn't do any damage.

Re: Keyboard funniness - ctrl+shift not working ( REALLY SOLVED THIS TIME )

2009-06-12 Thread jedd
 Another follow-up.

My earlier resolution - fiddling with xorg - and suspecting an
X / evdev / kde 4.2.4 / phase of moon related problem for the
 ctrl+shift+cursor keys .. was misguided.

It seems that KPhotoAlbum - which I did not have open when
I proclaimed success earlier! - has a global shortcut tied to
 those key combination.

I've raised this over on the KPA list, but I'm a bit befuddled why
this would be set - it's a) a common key combination for normal
usage patterns, and b) an odd thing to have as a /global/ shortcut.

I suspect there aren't many KPhotoAlbum users on this list, but
now it's archived for all to find if they hit the same problem.

 Jedd.

 Weird.

Okay, try this next. It's worked for me on a 4.2.2 install
 on my laptop.

Quit KDE, and remove (or rename) this file:

 ~/.kde/share/config/krunnerrc

 Start KDE again.

Excuse me, since when is the Debian BTS limited to bugs of RC
severity? It would be a shame to have the other severity values
considered deprecated and wasted.

If the system is just loaded enough, "a small period of time" could be
"several seconds". This shouldn't happen.

I'm using 4.2.4 and I don't see the problem.

Kopete auto-connects when the network goes online.
