Thanks Mark.

Any chance of getting amd64 packages? Or any pointer to where I can find
libkipi7-dev and libkdcraw8-dev?

Hi,
thanks for your packaging efforts.

Some things that are still not working properly:
kdm does still not start. Still no valid theme set in the kdmrc. Meanwhile
I've just commented the "Theme =" line.

The weather applets are not working. The weather applet from KDE 4.3 stoped
working some time ago and I thought it would be fixed by KDE 4.4. The sites
"wetter.com" and "BBC weather" don't produce any network traffic when searching
for cities, so I assume that something is wrong with them. The other two don't
produce any results for my area but I assume they work for americans sind they
create some network traffic and report a "not found" dialog.

Just rebuild the source package that is on this page for amd64. The
libkipi7-dev and libkdcraw8-dev have been renamed, so you need to
rename them in the Build-Depends field of debian/control if you build
from the source package that is in unstable. See

knetworkmanager's window position

2010-03-06 Thread Valerio Passini
Hi,

Has anybody noticed that if you click with the left mouse button on
knetworkmanager, the pop-up showing the active connections and the
option to disable/enable WiFi places itself on the top left corner on
the screen? Clicking with the right button sets the position of the pop-
up where it should be.

Thank you, I didn't notice that typing inside "search" in dolphin makes
further options for refining searches appear. This desktop searches are
really powerful

They have been renamed to libkipi-dev and libkdcraw-dev

They both provide the build dependencies so there should be no need to change
something in the control file.

I don't understand what could be wrong. Could somebody who still can't get kdm
starting in 4:4.4.1-0rc2, provide the following:

* Contents of /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
* kdm_init_output generated with
  # sh -x -e /etc/init.d/kdm start > kdm_init_output 2>&1
* Output of
  $ ls -l /var/run/kdm/

They seem work here.

Hello,

if you are interested in upgrading to KDE SC 4.4.1 and giving developers some
feedback about packaging quality, check http://qt-kde.debian.net/ .

The only "problem" that I ran into was one that a few have mentioned
already: I did the upgrade from within a KDE 4.3 session and the window
manager was terminated.

The upgrade itself completed successfully. I've not noticed any problems
yet, i.e., KDM "just worked".

Thanks to the packaging team for their (never-ending) hard-work. :)

Important: read before upgrading to the latest KDE SC 4.4.1 packages from qt-kde.debian.net

2010-03-06 Thread Modestas Vainius
Hello,

Versions 4:4.4.1-0rc1 and 4:4.4.1-0rc2 of kdm package have a bug which cause
kdm to be stopped on upgrade. This basically means that kdm upgrade
will kill your X session. This bug has been fixed in 4:4.4.1-0rc4 but in order
to upgrade to this version without loosing your X session, you still have to
remove old kdm.prerm maintainer script. So execute the following before
upgrading:

# rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/kdm.prerm

This bug does NOT affect users upgrading from KDE 4.3.4 to kdm 4:4.4.1-0rc4.

In addition, new versions of other packages have some minor improvement there
& there. What is more, the repository contains digikam packages provided by
Mark for i386 and their build for amd64.

add dsc main source digikam 2:1.1.0-1+snapshots
replace dsc main source kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.1-0rc2 4:4.4.1-0rc1
replace dsc main source kdebase-workspace 4:4.4.1-0rc4 4:4.4.1-0rc2
replace dsc main source kdeedu 4:4.4.1-0rc2 4:4.4.1-0rc1
replace dsc main source kdepim 4:4.4.1-0rc2 4:4.4.1-0rc1

Well, having a metapackage which installs a localized version depending on env
variables is not feasible. Note that none of the debian packages that I know
works that way, for instance for kde-l10n-xx you should install just the
translations you're interested in.

About splitting the package producing digikam-doc-es, digikam-doc-de, digikam-
doc-it and so on:
yes, it's feasible; however if a new translation appears, the package would
need
to enter the NEW queue because the new translation would produce a new binary
package. It's not good idea to force the people who manage the NEW queue to
waste their time, so if it's really neccesary to split the package I would do
when the number of translations would be somewhat constant in order to avoid
the
NEW queue as much as possible.
