Bug#583877: kde-window-manager: kwin_oxygen_config disable gradients for Iceweasel, Icedove and more Gtk apps
Package: kde-window-manager Version: 4:4.4.3-1 Severity: minor Tags: squeeze Hello, In kwin config module for oxygen, gradients are disabled for Firefox, Thunderbird and Gimp. However, in Debian we should add Iceweasel and Icedove. Maybe we should add a few more Gtk apps. The ideal would be to disable kwin gradients for all Gtk apps but I dont know whether this is possible. Hi, I updated my Testing installation some days ago and the problem resurfaced. I repaired it using the same workaround (rm /usr/bin/gpg ln /usr/bin/gpg2 /usr/bin/gpg). Bug#583951: My WLM account suddenly disappeared
Package: kopete Version: 4:4.4.3-2 Severity: grave As of today (31st May 2010), my WLM account seems to have been deleted. I restored a backup ( ~/.kde/share/apps/kopete* and ~/.kde/share/config/kopete*) from 2 days ago (29th May 2010) to no avail. When I launch Kopete, it displays the following interesting tidbits in the konsole : kopete(4267)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde4Factory: The library /usr/lib/kde4/kopete_history.so does not offer a qt_plugin_instance function. Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing. However the History plugin still seems to work. When I try to recreate a WLM account, the choice is still displayed, but when I click on it I get an error as it seems to be unable to find the plugin. In the konsole the following lines are displayed : kopete(4574)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde4Factory: The library /usr/lib/kde4/kopete_wlm.so does not offer a qt_plugin_instance function. kopete(4574)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde3Factory: The library /usr/lib/kde4/kopete_wlm.so does not offer an init_kopete_wlm function. Bug#583983: kopete: 'The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly.' message on start. No taskbar notifications, no smiles onmessage text, no styles
Package: kopete Version: 4:4.4.3-2 Severity: important Tags: squeeze kopete version 4:4.4.3-2 On the application start it shows the message box with this message: 'The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly.' -- and proceedes start normally. In the chat window it can not show emoticon pictures (showing placeholder), since I can see them in the Configuration - Chat Window - Emoticins dialog. The installation kdeartwork-emoticons package has added emoticon themes, but they also aren't show in chat. Trying to reinstall the kopete package, I've also lost all message window styles. The mesage 'Chat style could not be found, or is invalid.' is shown instead. And the most uncomfortable effect: it doesn't show notifications in the taskbar (no matter that I've checked notification options in the configuration). braindump Vs Vym Vs kdissert
Hello Developers, You mentioned braindump in koffice semi-official repository, and I have discovered this is a program for drawing mind-maps, similar to vym and kdissert. Re: braindump Vs Vym Vs kdissert
El Lunes, 31 de Mayo de 2010, Valerio Passini escribió: Why do you like it more than the other alternatives? I've used both VYM and KDissert (I suppose Semantik, it's KDE4 version, behaves the same), and I've seen a screencast of braindump 0.8. I see braindump as a different mindmapping tool than others. Since it's built using KOffice technologies, it has many drawing and presentation options. That's pretty nice for some purposes. However, I see KDissert and VYM (and other more conventional programs) as more focused on mindmapping. There the interface and the drawing are more focused on having all well tied together, since that's what makes a drawing a real mindmap with everything related. That said, I'm using none of them, since I like much more the way that Freemind behaves. This is a different way of doing a mindmap, since you focus much less in positioning everything or drawing graphical elements. You just focus on taking notes of everything in a structured way. And since it supports folding (a complete must have for me, but kind of impossible to implement with other tools), it's quite convenient for making summaries or to-do lists. It's only problem is that is written in Java, so is slow and heavy, and it's UI is a little bit ugly (the keybindings are quite nice, tough). Background wallpaper settings dissappear between logins on second monitor.
Hi, I'm running Sid with kde 4.4.3 on a two monitor system with the NVIDIA proprietary drivers in twinview mode (one big desktop 3840x1200). The problem I notice is that after each login, the background image of the secondary display is being 'blanked' (i.e. it shows when kde is loading, but is then set to neutral light blue). If I click with the right mouse button and choose Desktop activity settings, and then just click OK, the background is restored. Has anybody else noticed this behaviour? Odd occurrence with keyboard control keys
Hey, I'm having a wierd occurrence with my keyboard keys. First, I'm running sid with kde 4.4.3-2 with Compiz 0.8.3. I've been running this configuration (kde + compiz) for a couple of years. Lately, call it the last month or so, I get strange keyboard behavior. I can be composing an email here in firefox or editing a file in vi or whatever, and all of a sudden, the keys will switch TO ALL CAPS. All of the keys move to their shifted mode, including the . becoming and so forth, which does not ordinarily happen when the caps lock is depressed. In fact, when this occurs, I can hit shift lock, and get my letters back to lowercase, but this does not affect the special characters or numbers. I'm have not been able to figure out what activity causes it to return to normal. It appears to be some sort of timeout partially, and possibly pressing the shift key after the time lag... I thought this was a problem with my USB keyboard (a really crappy Logitech), so I swapped it to a PS/2 HP keyboard that I swapped from a couple of years ago. It still had the same problem. I also have another problem, which may be related to use of VMware player 3. I open the player, start a windows box (my vmware VI client) and bounce between that an another window, and all of a sudden, I can't use alt ctrl or shift. Which makes it a little difficult to do anything until I log out and restart X. Even closing vmware player doesn't help. Has anyone seen any behavior like this? Thanks, --b
compositing unavailable to KDE with Radeon HD 4650 and fglrx driver
Hi, I'm on an AMD64 Hp system (AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor, as reported by Kinfo). I've switched to an ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card a few days ago.
