Bug#625825: Fixed in gcc-4.6.0-7, please revert the work around

2011-05-08 Thread Modestas Vainius
Hello,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to fix this bug by build depending on g++-4.6
(= 4.6.0-7~) [armel] and breaking g++-4.6 ( 4.6.0-7~) [armel] instead.

P.S. 4.6.0-7 is still not in archive though. Any ETA for upload?

If a comma-separated-value file, which contains a column of type date, is
imported into kexi, the column will be changed into type text.
It does not matter, whether type date is automatically recognized by the
import routine or manually selected by the user, the result will always be of
type text. It is not possible to change the type later into date, because
then kexi will loose all data.

Example:

id, familyname, firstname, birthday

hi,

... not sure what the .mdb is - it's called template.mdb, so might be not
exactly what the import tool expects. It's possible it's breken, too.
Anyway, shouldn't hang, just bail out with an error msg in case.

Hi,

You've reported a bug for kspread on the Debian BTS about a problem when
copying numbers.

If you copy $2.34 with a middle click in kspread, this is indeed interpreted
as text (left align), but the formulas are working with the new version of
koffice (1:2.3.3-1, in testing/sid)

I opened a bug in the Koffice/Calligra bug tracker for it :
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=272789

Thanks for reporting bugs,

Adrien

How is this a GLib bug and not a Qt one?

AFAIK signals is not a reserved keyword in any standard, so IMHO the bug is
in Qt. It shouldn't define random stuff in public headers, but use
something like QT_SIGNALS or whatever (note the namespace). Also the
convention is to use uppercase for definitions, not lowercase.

Sorry to take so long to respond to this... In theory, you're probably
correct. However, the signals, slots and emit definitions are a
fundamental part of Qt programming that have been there at least since I
started working with Qt back in the Qt 3 days. It would be a major change and
break probably 90% or more of Qt-using programs to disable or rename those
definitions.

Looking at the headers, I see there is a QT_NO_KEYWORDS option which keeps
only the Q_SIGNALS, etc. versions of the defines. So I guess polkit-qt-1 could
be rewritten to #define QT_NO_KEYWORDS and update the source accordingly. But
I'm not sure how that would impact packages using polkit-qt-1 (notably
including kde4libs).

Bug#614436: Workaround patch for polkit-qt-1 FTBFS

2011-05-08 Thread Daniel Schepler
Here's a patch which fixes the FTBFS problem. I'm not going to tag the bug as
patch since this is just an ugly workaround for the fact that
gdbusintrospection.h wants to use signals as a field name. I just wanted to
post it in case anybody else wanted to recompile the package, until a proper
fix is worked out.

Bug#622176: libglib2.0-dev: /usr/include/glib-2.0/gio/gdbusintrospection.h: conflicts with Qt

Sorry to take so long to respond to this... In theory, you're probably
correct. However, the signals, slots and emit definitions are a
fundamental part of Qt programming that have been there at least since I
started working with Qt back in the Qt 3 days. It would be a major change
and break probably 90% or more of Qt-using programs to disable or rename
 those definitions.

Yup. the signals, slots and emit words are very common across Qt sourcecode.
There is also the Q_SIGNALS, Q_SLOTS , Q_EMIT, Q_FOREACH and other such
keywords.

Looking at the headers, I see there is a QT_NO_KEYWORDS option which keeps
only the Q_SIGNALS, etc. versions of the defines. So I guess polkit-qt-1
could be rewritten to #define QT_NO_KEYWORDS and update the source
accordingly. But I'm not sure how that would impact packages using
 polkit-qt-1 (notably including kde4libs).

It has happened upstream that it now builds with QT_NO_KEYWORDS, and I'm
trying my best to advice people to use the Q_version of the 'keywords'.

First of all from Windows you have to unmount the TCP/IP terminale to receive

Justification: makes other packages to FTBFS on armel with gcc 4.6

Hello,

some QBasicAtomicInt functions do not build on armel with g++ 4.6 (Debian's
g++-4.5 seems to work), for example QBasicAtomicInt::fetchAndStoreOrdered()
[1]. While according to the Ubuntu report this one is forwarded to, the bug
probably is in the gcc itself (broken -fstrict-volatile-bitfields handling in
some cases), gcc upstream did not fix it in 4.6 despite efforts of Ubuntu
people [2].

This issue will trigger many Qt based packages to FTBFS (like kde4libs [1])
because offending code is inlined in the headers. So we need a solution quick
and fast, either in gcc or Qt (or both). I'm going to work on Qt solution and
already have an idea how to fix this problem (a hack).

Bug#612675: libkio5: KTar class have broken UTF-8 support(longlink)

2011-05-08 Thread Modestas Vainius
Hello,

On trečiadienis 04 Gegužė 2011 11:40:43 Ibragimov Rinat wrote:
This though is not totally clear to me. On the major architectures,
char is signed, so I would assume that a chksum error in this area
should have hit a lot of people already? Given that int is signed by
default I wonder if this is the proper approach and it shouldn't rather
be cast to signed char (signedness of char varies across the different
  architectures).

The error only occurs when file name have characters with codes larger than
 128. All ASCII have codes lower than 127, so in that case there is no
difference. UTF-8 uses most significant bit as flag, so some charactes have
codes larger than 128. I'll explain with example:

 int check = 32;
 check += buffer[j];

assume buffer[0]==128, i.e. 0x80. When one adds signed char 0x80 to an
integer, signed char extents to a signed integer and becomes 0xff80.
It is not 0x80, as one may expect.

But if all file names are in english, no one can face the bug.

Out of curiosity, you filed this from an i386 system. Did you maybe
copy around the backup from/to any architcture including arm, armel,
powerpc or s390? Were they somehow involved in the assumingly checksum
error of yours? The thing behind the question is: If we fix the
calculation in the direction that you propose, this would break backups
done now on the architectures that do have char signed by default
because it would result in a different checksum.

No, unfortunately I don't have access to architectures other than amd64 and
 i386.

What I'm concerned about is that your patch may not be complete. There are
more similar checks in ktar.cpp. As I absolutely have no idea how tar works,
this will take time to handle properly (or hopefully upstream responds in the
meantime). Thanks for forwarding the bug.

kmail filters

2011-05-08 Thread Dietz Pröpper
Hi,

since 4.x, I observe a strange problem with kmail - every now and then,
filtering of received messages seems to break, leaving everything in the
default inbox. Executing the filters manually yields the expected result.

As far as I can tell, the problem is not linked to kmail directly - if
filtering breaks, restarting kmail does not yield any improvements, a
logout/login cycle is necessary (which means that my stomach says
akonadi).

Can anyone reproduce that behavior?

regards
Dietz

Yes, I've seen this, but only rarely, say once or twice per month. In my
case it was with a cached IMAP account. I don't know about non-cached
IMAP or POP3. As far as I remember, the problem only occurred for an
account receiving several high-traffic mailing lists. I've since
switched to sort messages into folders on the server-side.
