I already replaced my self built 2.9 packages (see some earlier thread here)
with those. Worked nicely. I have to keep those packages on hold to avoid
having apt/aptitude try to update them to the 3.0 ones.

Thanks,

KDE SC 4.10

2013-03-17 Thread Martin Steigerwald
Hi!

I have browsed some basic packages at git.debian.org and it seems
José and others work on KDE SC 4.10.

Are any of these already in a testable state? I may be inclined to build
some during the free week after the coming week.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Thanks,

I guess you had to put them on hold to upgrade from your custom packages to
the qt-kde.d.n ones, afaik that's unavoidable unless you comment out the
experimental line in your sources.list first.

But what about once you have upgraded to the qt-kde.d.n? Keeping the
experimental lines in sources.list: do you still need to have the packages on
hold to prevent an undesired upgrade to the 3.0.0 packages in experimental?

If experimental's priority is < 100 (= qt-kde.d.n.'s prio) then neither a safe-
upgrade or a full-upgrade will trigger an upgrade to the 3.0.0 packages.

If experimental's prio is >= 100 then a full-upgrade does want to upgrade
digikam to the 3.0.0 versions and suggest to remove a bunch of other packages
because of unresolved dependencies. A safe-upgrade (still) doesn't upgrade it
to
version 3.0.0, but only says that there are 2 upgradeable packages (also
digikam-data).
With digikam on hold, neither full-upgrade or safe-upgrade wants to upgrade.

So 'normally' you don't need to put digikam on hold, unless you've changed
experimental's priority through /etc/apt/preferences(.d/).

  Diederik

Thanks, but I already know what apt priority is. I can also read 'man
apt_preferences' myself. And I also already know the reply to my question will
be probably "No".

You didn't bother me, so don't worry.
