The fact that you can hear the KDE greeting at startup means that you have either a configuration issue or some missing package. I suspect you think it is similar to another bug I have read about. Anyway, maybe it can help, after upgrade I have noticed: 1. kmix won't start Ok, let's see this. 2. konqueror won't use html5 This is most surely something else. Bug#353762: marked as done (kmail: KMail freezes it's GUI when sending/receiving mail)
Your message dated Sat, 13 Apr 2013 17:00:10 + with message-id e1ur3oa-0004tz...@franck.debian.org and subject line Bug#353762: fixed in kdepim 4:4.10.2-1 has caused the Debian Bug report #353762, regarding kmail: KMail freezes it's GUI when sending/receiving mail to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 353762: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=353762 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: kmail Version: 4:3.5.1-1 Severity: important KMail freezes it's GUI when sending mails or receiving new mails. This bug is especially flustrating when KMail filters mails through SpamAssassing, SpamBayes or ClamAV, since each mail takes secons to complete. Try to write a new mail to someone and check for new mails with SPAM and Virus filtering set up. Ensure you have some new mails to download. The mail editor will suspend for seconds (depending on the speed of your machine). This problem exists for years and remains unsolved. The bug is increasingly flustrating, since filtering time increases faster than available CPU speed. Is it possible to move the time consuming processes out of the GUI thread? Using a separate process or a dedicated KDE service could be a better solution than freezing the whole application. Filtering should run with a lower priority (around 10-15) to prevent unnecessary system hog when checking for new mail. See comments here: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41514 YES, this is a duplicate bug-report. But I think re-reporting this bug is essential, since usability of KMail suffers badly. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-sirius-20051219-0354 Locale: LANG=hu_HU, LC_CTYPE=hu_HU (charmap=ISO-8859-2) Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii kdebase-kio-plugins 4:3.4.3-3 core I/O slaves for KDE ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.1-1 core libraries for all KDE applica ii kdepim-kio-plugins4:3.5.1-1 KDE pim I/O Slaves ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio2 1.7-3 The Network Audio System (NAS). I was recently forced into upgrading from a dual Athlon 1700 system to a AMD 64X2 4800. Kmail was a big disappointment after upgrading, as was one web site I like to visit. Even before upgrading, I was annoyed with kmail going to sleep when processing incoming mail. If I was using mbox for mail folders, I could understand the locking issues were forcing this. But I use maildir for all of my active folders, it is only archival folders not yet moved to SQL that are mbox. Asking around people who have used mdir more than I have, they don't know of any reason why kmail has to behave this way either. Specifically, if I am sending an email, there is no reason why kmail has to freeze up if it is processing an incoming email. I am not doing anything with inbox. Another one that happens, is if I happen to make the pane with kmail the visible window, and kmail is processing incoming email, that portion of the screen is frozen. Is this something which is going to get fixed in the new KDE coming soon? -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii kdebase-kio-plugins 4:3.5.7-1core I/O slaves for KDE ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-1 core libraries and binaries for al ii kdepim-kio-plugins 4:3.5.7-1KDE pim I/O Slaves ii libart-2.0-22.3.19-3 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio2 1.9-2The Network Audio System (NAS). Result - Task ends up with an incorrect total time (in this case *minus* 4 hours and 45 minutes). Fix - The idle dialog should stop adding to the idle time, if the task was manually stopped. e.g. perhaps it should display either: 'The task task name has been idle for a:bc' 'ignore idle period and continue timing' or 'go back and stop' or 'The task task name was idle from a:bc until d:ef' 'subtract x:yz' or 'ignore' ? I find that I frequently miss the idle detection diaglog e.g, because it's on a different desktop. As a workaround, I have used the window behaviour KDE system setting to force the idle detection dialogs to appear centered, and raised on all desktops - perhaps this should happen automatically as well? Comments regarding pairs_4.10.2-1_amd64.changes
Hi, debian/copyright has a License: GFDL-NIV-1.2+ section, but there doesn't appear anything licensed under the GFDL included in the upstream tarball? I only saw GPL-2+3+eV files. Unless I missed something, you might want to drop the section from d/copyright in your next upload. Bug#705363: parley-data: adequate reports py-file-not-bytecompiled bugs in parley-data
Package: parley-data Version: 4:4.10.2-1 Justification: Policy 2.6 Severity: serious Dear Maintainer, Adequate reported quite a few py-file-not-bytecompiled bugs when upgrading parley-data today which can be seen in Debian Python Policy 2.6 in the python package /usr/share/doc/python/python-policy.html/ch-module_packages.html The policy says :- 2.6 Modules Byte-Compilation If a binary package provides any binary-independent modules (foo.py files), the corresponding byte-compiled modules (foo.pyc files) and optimized modules (foo.pyo files) must not ship in the package.
