plasma login hangs for 30 seconds

2015-08-04 Thread Matthias Bodenbinder
Hi,

when I am logging in to plasma via sddm or kdm the progress bar on the splash
screen moves all the way to the right until it stops 1 cm before the end and
sits there for 30 seconds. After that the login resumes just fine. This only
happens at the first login after boot. All subsequent logins are just fine.
Tests with a different user did not show that delay.

I do not have many applets installed. Just Search, kmix, network, clipboard and
Status&messages.
Any idea how I can find the root cause of it?

Matthias

No, I had the same problem but was able to add desktops. Unfortunately there
is a side effect. I think the pager hides when you only have one desktop, so
adding it give you two pagers, neither of which can be removed because there
is no way to remove widgets.

Right click on panel -> unlock widgets -> click on panel menu ->

I've read that advice before and it doesn't work. My widgets aren't

On a pager widget, it shows the various virtual desktops and what's

Hi,

Check that you have KDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS:BOOL=ON in CMakeCache.txt.

Without it the 'make install' will install Kdeconnect to wrong directory
(/usr/lib/[arch]/ instead of /usr/lib/[arch]/qt5/). You might want to 'make
uninstall' before that change to uninstall the files from the wrong
directory

My main system is still KDE4. I've found the settings for the virtual desktops
there. It's in System Settings -> Workspace Behavior.

I do *not* have the "Workspace Behavior" configuration module in the system
settings of my new System, which runs Plasma 5.

So the virtual desktops issue is solved. The real issue is the absence of
"Workspace Behavior" in Plasma 5.

Should I file a bug report?

Re: Install on stretch : feedback

2015-08-04 Thread Michal BULIK

Hi Sami,

Kdeconnect in Debian is only for KDE4 and doesn't work with Plasma5/KF5. There
is a git tree
(https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-kde/kde-extras/kdeconnect-plasma.git/) for
Plasma 5 but that hasn't been uploaded to Debian yet.

I'm building Kdeconnect directly from the KDE git tree
(http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdeconnect-kde.git) and it's working on my Debian
Plasma 5.

Can you share with us how you install it. I've compiled it with cmake, make
& make install but I get the message "Process org.kde.kdeconnect received signal
6"

Thanks,
Michal

It's in "Desktop Behavior" -> "Virtual Desktops"

What has disappeared w/r to KDE4 is the check button

Fonts in Plasma 5

I've installed Plasma 5 (on an USB stick), and am trying to make those tiny

I've configured the fonts in System Settings -> Application Appearance ->

However, when I log out and log in again, about half of the fonts are back to
the previous, very small, setting.

Anybody who has this working? Should I file a bug report?

As for me wmsystemtray and stalonetray looks quite ugly. I would recommend to
try lxpanel. It may be even used instead of plasma panel.

Personally I use plasma panel + lxpanel [1][2] with own plasma theme [3].

Plasmoids were added on desktop only for screenshots. Unfortunately they are
currently unusable due to too high CPU usage (about 30-50% of each CPU core).

Hope this helps.
