File Manager - Super User Mode
Hello, If I try to run Konqueror as root while logged in as a normal user (same as clicking on File Manager - Super User Mode from the KDE menu) it crashes with this error: /tmp/mcop-cloverm is not owned by user. Of course not, because I just became root. If I chmod root.root /tmp/mcop-cloverm, it solves to problem, but than I can't run konqueror as the normal user any more. What gives?
Re: Dependendcy problem KDE3/wine
Has anyone done this successfully? Can this person make the .deb package available for others? I tried it, but the compiler always stopped with cryptic error messages (which usually is the case every time I try to compile something from source) ... On Thu, 2002-08-01 at 11:25, Rob Andrews wrote: [Thomas Ritter wrote in newsgate.debian.kde] after installing KDE3 from the well known apt source, I am unable to install debian wine, as libwine depends on libarts, where KDE3 installed and needs libarts1. Has anyone resolved this yet? Installing libarts would uninstall my whole KDE3... The previously discussed fix was to manually fetch the build dependacies of wine (without libarts-dev, obviously), and install libarts1-dev. Then fetch the wine source, edit debian/control to depend on libarts1 instead of libarts, and debian/rules binary to build your own packages of it. -- rob e [EMAIL PROTECTED] pgp 0x8bb5c71e -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. KDE3 and wine
This might have been asked before, but is there a way of making KDE3 and wine like each other? Have KDE3 installed but wine wouldn't install because of dependency problems. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: More KDE3 modules available
Where exactly is the incoming directory? Can you give us link? KDoc garbage
I checked my kdoc and I'm getting the same garbage. Oh well, I can live with that until the official packages come out. What really bothers me is kate crashing on me all the time. I hope these are problems with the unoffical packages and not KDE 3 ... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: KDE 3 unoffical packages
To be quite honest I was a brave soul and removed 2.2.2 first (apt-get remove kdelibs3). I figured I can always reinstall it if something goes wrong. When installing the new KDE3 packages, I had to remove a few more packages to satisfy some dependencies (nothing that I really needed). I did not take offense on sending your reply to me directly, I'm very new to mailing lists myself. I'm running a website at http://www.linuxjunior.org if you need some Linux-related support. How did you get it so that dpkg did not remove 2.2.2 (or whatever) packages? (for example it replaced kdebase instead of installing along side of it.) I thought this was possible as one is in /usr and the other in /opt. I tried --force-conflicts but this obviously the wrong ticket. Also tried putting a hold on kdebase but a no go as well. I am fairly new to Debian, and usually use apt, so apologizes if these attempts seem lame to you. all the best, Robert_L Apologies to Cloverm for mistakenly mailing the first copy to his address. I'm not used to lists yet and have a habit from years of newsgroups to just hit reply. I won't compound it by mailing an apology ! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
KDE 3.0 debian subfolder
While compiling KDE3, I noticed that after unpacking the source code bz2 files, every one of them has a subfolder called debian. What is this folder for? Does this mean that I have compile something different for Debian-based systems? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
KDE 3 unoffical packages
Can be downloaded from here: http://www.unc.edu/~crimsun/kde3-unofficial/ It worked for me!
