Hi, After upgrade my system to install KDE4.4 I can't start the X-Windows. I had the next error: - dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: resVgaShared - Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so - Failed to load module nvidia - No drivers available Fatal server error: no screens found I have installed again the nvidia drivers successfully and I have the same issue. Is there any change again in the xserver-xorg that I miss? Thanks in advance, GUAN -- --- http://guandedio.orgfree.com/
Re: Imposible upgrade lenny to sid
Hi Ramon, You are right, after update my kernel I can do the upgrade to sid branch, but now I have another issue. After login in the kde session, the screen is shown black, only the mouse is present. Any idea ? I'm installing the Debian into a VMware, I don't usually have problem working with the virtual manchine. GUAN 2010/2/16 Ramon Antonio Parada r...@ramonantonio.net You need first to update your kernel. udev = 150 needs a kernel = 2.6.31 with CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED not set. The problem is that updating the kernel is not enough, you must be running it. So update your kernel first to unstable (will install 2.6.32), reboot and udev will update ok. Tell me if you have trouble installing kde-minimal. A friend (experienced IT) told me that it fails because of the googlegadgets packages but as I see the dependency chain is: kde-minimal -depends- kdebase-workspace -depends- kdebase-workspace-bin -suggests- plasma-scriptengines -depends- plasma-scriptengine-googlegadgets As plasma-scriptengines is only suggested may work but may be there another path for dependencies. So please notice if it fails. Cheers, Ramon Antonio On Mon, Feb 15, 2010 at 7:19 PM, Guan de dio guan.de...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all, Currently I try to pass my Debian lenny to sid. Re: KDE crash when effects OpenGL enabled
I had the same issue, but after a new reboot all is fine. 2009/10/15 Manolete, ese artista... variosin...@gmail.com I have updated several packages from unstable this afternoon (I suspect of some libqt* packages, maybe libqt4-opengl?) two machines, one with ATI open driver and the other with Nvidia private driver, both systems with Xorg 7.4, and both machines crash when any effect is displayed (present windows, a simple dialog and shadow drawing, etc) unless I select Xrender, or I disble all the effects. I have tried a new user and it happens the same. If I tried to downgrade those libqt* stuff to the version in Squeeze I'd have to downgrade KDE to 4.3.1 for not breaking dependencies, so by now I'm working without desktop effects. Has anyone experienced the same, or know if this is an upstream bug or a Debian one? Google isn't too informative about this. Changing the behavior of closing the top of a laptop in KDE4
Hi everybody I want to change the behavior of the OS when I close the top of my laptop. Currently It is starting in Suspension, and I want to set in don't do nothing. Where is the file or program to set this setting? I don't find it in KDE4. Thanks, GUAN
Re: Re: KPackage in KDE4
Yes I'm Spanish Thanks for the tip. In another hand, I tried Synaptic in a Virtual Machine in another PC and It looks work fine :) Thanks, GUAN Gracias Carlos ;) 2008/12/6 Carlos Álvarez [EMAIL PROTECTED] Guandedió, cusha, ;D. There's a metapackage called kde4-minimal that just installs the essential components of KDE4 (the ones with the red ball if I'm not worng here: http://packages.debian.org/experimental/kde4-minimal), in case you don't want to install the whole desktop enviroment. That metapackage is available in experimental repos, but I guess it must be in the testing bacports as well. Ah, and if you decide to use aptitude (it's faster and much cheaper in computer resources compared to graphical installers) I suggest you to deactivate Instalar los paquetes recomendados de forma automática in aptitude's interface-menu Options-Preferences. I'm assuming by your nickname that you are hispanic, excuse if I'm wrong, but I dont know what does aptitude say in English, in any case I suppose it must be something like Install recommended packages automatically or so. If you don't deactivate this option you will install unvoluntarily dozens of recommended programs and libraries you don't really need. Good luck, :). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: KPackage in KDE4
Another question How can I know witch is my KDE4 version ? In the start splash I only see 4.1 so I don't know if it si 4.1.2 or 4.1.3 or wathever GUAN 2008/12/6 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello, penktadienis 05 Gruodis 2008, [EMAIL PROTECTED] rašė: some packages from sid. KDE4 from backports was version 4.1, the last time I checked. The experimental KDE4 is version 4.2. 4.2 is really what you want, but you would have to learn to cope with sid and experimental, and as a new user, I don't recommend that. 4.2 is not in experimental. 4.1.3 is. I believe you may be correct. What am I thinking of? The point was meant to be that the backports version was behind the version in Experimental, and that the Experimental version may be more ready to be a production version that the backports version seems to be. Re: KPackage in KDE4
A friend tell me that it's better to use name as: testing, unstable, ... because in this way I can't take care with the new name of the new Debian.release apt-get install kde4oraptitude install kde4? Well, to make it work first of all I need to install form ustable branch the package smart-core or something like this. After that I set the backport for KDE4 in my sourcelist deb http://kde4.debian.net/ lenny main If I don't worng, lenny = testing, so I can use this backport. With all of this, I set: aptitude install kde4 Maybe I need to make in another way, I followed this manual http://kde4.debian.net/ and, well I now have installed KDE4 a little bit unstable :( Don't try Adept right now. Use Aptitude in a terminal window. Do not use the command-line interface, use the ncurses interface (type aptitude [no quotes] by itself on the command line. To make it do work, you will have to be root, or let it become root. (Just open a root terminal when you open a terminal.) I know aptitude but I prefer something like adpet, but if currently there is not alternative I'll use aptitude If you have all of GTK, etc. installed, you can try Synaptic. It will run under KDE4, as long as your glib, and gtk/gnome libraries are in good shape. OK I'll try, but I read on Internet that Synaptic is not stable in KDE4, is that real? If a few icons are missing, you may need to install an icon theme package. Since KDE4 is still farm fresh, there may be a few items like that that aren't all there. It is some strange that the icons of the toolbar of KPackage are not complet in the system ??? I sopouse I need a icon them package but, how can I find what is it?
