no screens after upgrade

2010-03-21 Thread Guan de dio
Hi,

After upgrade my system to install KDE4.4 I can't start the
X-Windows.

  I had the next error:

- dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so: undefined
symbol: resVgaShared
- Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
- Failed to load module nvidia
- No drivers available

Fatal server error:
no screens found

I have installed again the nvidia drivers successfully and I have the
same issue.

Is there any change again in the xserver-xorg that I miss?

Thanks in advance,
GUAN

You need first to update your kernel. udev = 150 needs a kernel =
2.6.31 with CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED not set. The problem is that
updating the kernel is not enough, you must be running it. So update
your kernel first to unstable (will install 2.6.32), reboot and udev
 will update ok.

Tell me if you have trouble installing kde-minimal. A friend
(experienced IT) told me that it fails because of the googlegadgets
packages but as I see the dependency chain is:

 kde-minimal -depends- kdebase-workspace -depends-
 kdebase-workspace-bin -suggests- plasma-scriptengines -depends-
 plasma-scriptengine-googlegadgets

As plasma-scriptengines is only suggested may work but may be there
another path for dependencies. So please notice if it fails.

 Ramon Antonio

Re: KDE crash when effects OpenGL enabled

2009-10-15 Thread Guan de dio
I had the same issue, but after a new reboot all is fine.

2009/10/15 Manolete, ese artista... variosin...@gmail.com

I have updated several packages from unstable this afternoon (I suspect of
some libqt* packages, maybe libqt4-opengl?) two machines, one with ATI open
driver and the other with Nvidia private driver, both systems with Xorg 7.4,
and both machines crash when any effect is displayed (present windows, a
simple dialog and shadow drawing, etc) unless I select Xrender, or I disble
 all the effects.
I have tried a new user and it happens the same. If I tried to downgrade
those libqt* stuff to the version in Squeeze I'd have to downgrade KDE to
4.3.1 for not breaking dependencies, so by now I'm working without desktop
 effects.

Has anyone experienced the same, or know if this is an upstream bug or a
Debian one? Google isn't too informative about this.

Does synclient tapbutton1=1 typed in a terminal re-enable the touch pad

Can you make sure this is not connected to the recent X11 upgrades? The

5.0 SID I always have a black screen for logging. I need to logging using
the console mode.

I remember that listers told something similar issue when the upgrate
KDE4.1.3 to KDE4.2, and for fixing the problem only it is necessary to
install a package but I don't remember the name.

impossible upgrade KE3 to KDE4

2009-03-08 Thread Guan de dio
Hi everybody,

Today is my 3rd day try to install Debian sid with KDE4 in a PC.

I have been using a Install CD of etch. After installing I upgrade the
distro to sid and enable the experimental repositories. I try to install
kde4 using aptitude install -t experimental kde4.

I'm surprise that after upgrade to sid, in the booting I can see a lot
of warning messages about /etc/modprobe.d/ has not a conf file ¿?

The kde4 instalation fails due to the dependecens. The message said
that if the new packages will be installed some package will be broken,
package as rar, unrar, ...

 Somes tips please?

Thanks,
GUAN

Hi Manolete,

First. Are you sure you want to install ALL KDE4, with all the games, the
educational programs, etc, etc? If not you can try the package
kde4-minimal and later install the programs you want individually.

For my kde4-minimal is enough

Second. I would try the fast and easy way instead of wasting time

OK, I try to explain me again.

I want to install Debian with KDE 4.2 in my PC ( it is a old pc that I use
for testing). Currently I have 2 Debian Sid installeds, 1º in a Laptop (with
KDE4.1.3 I need to upgrade it), and another one in a VMWare with KDE4.2

It's not my first time, but I don't know what is happen.

Normally, I install a basic Debian with KDE 3.5 form a CDInstall of etch.

Then I modifed the apt/sourece.list to make a dist-updgrade to sid, because
this is the branch of Debian where I don't have problems, and I like to use
the last verions of the software.

After making the dist-upgrade, currently I can see severl warning about
/etc/modprobe.d/ blacklist.XXX has not config file, .. etc etc ...

Are there something broken in the branch?

After that I enable the experimental branch and in a console try to make

aptitude install -t experimental kde4-minimal

aptitude shows me a lot of broken dependence that I can't to resolve

I try to with a CD install Debian from experimental branch. I download this
CD yesterday, so it is in the last version. This CD has got KDE3.5, when I
try to upgrade to KDE4 I have the same broken dependence.

I don't know it the sid and experimental are update the KDE4 package and it
is normal.

 If
everything works well, the problem is in you user account setup.

I created a new user where the same problem exists. Then removed
 ~/.kde
and ~/.kde4,

on a new user account you shouldn't have a .kde directory
(or I misunderstood what you said)

I had kpowerdaemon (or something similarly called) still installed, which
might have triggered the creation after login.

purged and reinstalled kde-l10n-de and again (after some
akonadi errors and knotify crashes) the same problem prevails. By
default no language is set in the settings module under personal -
country/region language (translated from German).

same here, default language setting from kde (generic english) but it
   works in french without problem

I'll attach the locales from this users settings.

it looks like a kde problem, but just in case (sorry if it's stupid):
What is the default locale on the system ?
(check the uncommented ones in /etc/locale.gen)
And did you try to install another desktop ?

  $ cat /etc/locale.gen | grep -v #
  de...@euro ISO-8859-15
  de_DE ISO-8859-1
  de_DE.UTF-8 UTF-8
  en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8
  en_HK.UTF-8 UTF-8
  en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
  ja_JP.UTF-8 UTF-8
  ko_KR.UTF-8 UTF-8
  zh_CN.UTF-8 UTF-8
  zh_HK.UTF-8 UTF-8
  zh_SG.UTF-8 UTF-8
  zh_TW.UTF-8 UTF-8

  reportbug reports the following settings:
  Locale: lang=de...@euro, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)

I didn't try installing another desktop like gnome.

But, now I just tried resetting my LC_MESSAGES (being default C)
  $ LC_MESSAGES=de_DE kwrite
and this gives me a perfect German environment for kwrite.
So I guess that would solve my problem.
Now, am I being unreasonable asking for a consistent useage of languages,
  or is it a bug?

  Christoph

I'd advice using de_DE.UTF-8 as default.

I make dpkg-reconfigure locales and uses es_ES.UTF-8, and after that I
rebooted KDE but I don't notice nothing different.

I checked env |grep LANG

g...@debian64:~$ env | grep LANG
LANG=es_ES.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
g...@debian64:~$

The package kde-i18n-es that I have installed is the version 4:3.5.10-2

With this configuration I have some application completely in Spanish and
others in Spanish and English together as for example konqueror.

The local variable as LANG, LC_CTYPE or LC_MESSAGES I don't know exactly
where is stored for my current user.

 Guandedió, cusha, ;D.

There's a metapackage called kde4-minimal that just installs the
essential components of KDE4 (the ones with the red ball if I'm not
 worng here: http://packages.debian.org/experimental/kde4-minimal), in
case you don't want to install the whole desktop enviroment. That
metapackage is available in experimental repos, but I guess it must be
in the testing bacports as well.
Ah, and if you decide to use aptitude (it's faster and much cheaper
in computer resources compared to graphical installers) I suggest you
to deactivate Instalar los paquetes recomendados de forma automática
 in aptitude's interface-menu Options-Preferences. I'm assuming by
your nickname that you are hispanic, excuse if I'm wrong, but I dont
know what does aptitude say in English, in any case I suppose it must
be something like Install recommended packages automatically or so.
If you don't deactivate this option you will install unvoluntarily
dozens of recommended programs and libraries you don't really need.

 Good luck, :).

  Hello,

penktadienis 05 Gruodis 2008, [EMAIL PROTECTED] rašė:
some packages from sid. KDE4 from backports was version 4.1, the last
time I checked. The experimental KDE4 is version 4.2. 4.2 is really
what you want, but you would have to learn to cope with sid and
experimental, and as a new user, I don't recommend that.

4.2 is not in experimental. 4.1.3 is.

I believe you may be correct. What am I thinking of?

The point was meant to be that the backports version was behind the
version in Experimental, and that the Experimental version may be more
ready to be a production version that the backports version seems to be.

Re: KPackage in KDE4

2008-12-05 Thread Guan de dio
A friend tell me that it's better to use name as: testing, unstable, ...
because in this way I can't take care with the new name of the new
Debian.release

  apt-get install kde4oraptitude install kde4?

Well, to make it work first of all I need to install form ustable branch
the package smart-core or something like this.

After that I set the backport for KDE4 in my sourcelist

deb http://kde4.debian.net/ lenny main

If I don't worng, lenny = testing, so I can use this backport.

With all of this, I set:

  aptitude install kde4

Maybe I need to make in another way, I followed this manual
http://kde4.debian.net/ and, well I now have installed KDE4 a little bit
unstable :(

Don't try Adept right now. Use Aptitude in a terminal window. Do
not use the command-line interface, use the ncurses interface (type
aptitude [no quotes] by itself on the command line. To make it
do work, you will have to be root, or let it become root. (Just open
a root terminal when you open a terminal.)
I know aptitude but I prefer something like adpet, but if currently there is
not alternative I'll use aptitude

If you have all of GTK, etc. installed, you can try Synaptic. It will
run under KDE4, as long as your glib, and gtk/gnome libraries are in
good shape.
OK I'll try, but I read on Internet that Synaptic is not stable in KDE4, is
that real?

If a few icons are missing, you may need to install an icon theme
package. Since KDE4 is still farm fresh, there may be a few items
like that that aren't all there.
It is some strange that the icons of the toolbar of KPackage are not complet
in the system ???
I sopouse I need a icon them package but, how can I find what is it?
