Fwd: qbs 1.8.0 released
I've updated this and qt creator 4.3.0 in KDE neon https://packaging.neon.kde.org/qt/qbs.git/log/?h=Neon/release https://packaging.neon.kde.org/qt/qtcreator.git/ https://community.kde.org/Neon/Git Main issue is that qbs_processlauncher is in a non-Debian happy libexec dir, so I moved it to a more compliant dir https://packaging.neon.kde.org/qt/qbs.git/tree/debian/rules?h=Neon/release#n58 but this seems likely to break things if it can't be found Jonathan On 30 May 2017 at 23:04, Jake Petrouleswrote: > Hello, > > Just my usual friendly reminder that qbs 1.8.0 was released yesterday; please > update the Debian and Ubuntu packages accordingly whenever possible. > > Thank you, > -- > Jake Petroules - jake.petrou...@qt.io > The Qt Company - Silicon Valley > Qbs build tool evangelist - qbs.io >
Bug#836564: Missing OnlyShowIn=KDE; in klipper autostart file
On Sun, Sep 04, 2016 at 07:22:37PM -0300, Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer wrote: > Indeed I missread you, sorry for that. yes, it shouldn't be run by default > except the user or the desktop upstreams decide so. > > Jonathan: please take a look at the bug. I think Michael is right here, users > should be able to use Klipper on non-plasma desktops but it shouldn't happen > by default. Of course a fix directly in upstream will be preferable here :) Sorry for the late reply. In Plasma/5.7 branch it's set to autostart NotShowIn=KDE which makes it start automatically on Gnome etc which is strange, the change was for the menu file as there's no point having it in the menu for Plasma because you can run it through the systray but other desktop users might be interested in running it so it should be shown. Should be fixed in 5.8 branch which has two desktop files, menu file gets shown in !KDE and autostart file is only for KDE. https://phabricator.kde.org/D2323 Jonathan

Package: baloo In the initial packaging I added an explicit dependency in the .symbols files so anything using a baloo library would depend on baloo. Fiddling with the SVG mimetype allows me to see them in Konqueror, but I still can't use them as icons or desktop backgrounds. Am I doing something wrong here, or are the Debian KDE packages incapable of using SVG in these ways? SVG desktop backgrounds is only supported in CVS head. The SVG icon renderer is turned off in KDE by default because it's too slow, unreliable and there arn't any SVG icons anyway. Expect things to improve for KDE 4 with a new svg icon engine, KSVG 2 and a new crystal icon set (fingers crossed on the generosity of Linspire with that last one). Incidently KSVG is unrelated to the SVG icon engine. Jonathan Riddell

Ubuntu KDE packages
I've been playing around with making KDE packages for Ubuntu using KDE from CVS and have a couple of questions. The version number is 3.2.90 not 3.3.0, are the latest Debian bits not in KDE CVS? Konqueror breaks quite badly http://muse.19inch.net/~jr/tmp/konqueror-debs-cvs-compile.png I've seen this before, is it a known problem? Thanks Jonathan Riddell
Qt packages when installing KDE 3.1.2 on stable
A quick question which I'm sure must have an obvious answer. Installing the KDE 3.1.2 woody backport from a ftp.kde.org mirror asks for a matching Qt library which I only have an older version of. Where can I find the correct Qt package version? Thanks Jonathan Riddell
wee kdmrc problem with KDE 3
In the debs from http://kde.ping.uio.no/ppc /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc has Setup=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsetup it should have Setup=/etc/kde3/kdm/Xsetup which does important things like setting the background image (plus making my keyboard work, which relies on /etc/X11/Xmodmap). Well done for a good install otherwise. Jonathan Riddell -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
kghostview crashes
Can anyone help me out with the problem of kghostview crashing. I've just reinstalled everything to do with gs from woody but it keeps giving me a SIGSEGV and the backtrace shows that it's openFile() that's the problem. It's strange because gv works fine. Thanks fae any help, Jonathan Riddell
kssl and kio linking errors
I'm trying to compile a program for KDE. When I do it I get the following error, /usr/lib/libkio.so: undefined reference to `KSSLCertificateHome::hasCertificateByName(QString) It works fine when I remove the crypto package but then I can't use https. There shouldn't be anything inconsistant about my kde packages which are from woody using a potato/stable install. Any ideas on how to make these libraries keep the compiler happy would be most welcome. Jonathan Riddell
Re: KNewsTicker???
I've performed an apt-get of this interesting newsticker but cannot evaluate it. I'm running Debian unstable and have tried the command knewsticker but that is evidently not correct. Applets arn't run from the command line. Mine works fine by doing k-configure pannel-add-applet-news ticker. Jonathan Riddell
audiocd ioslave
Horrors, the best part of upgrading kde 2.2 doesn't seem to have materialised, there isn't the audiocd: ioslave installed. Is there a nice easy apt-get style or even hard and difficult way of installing it? Jonathan Riddell
