There is also Strawberry which is a fork of Clementine, I haven't tried lately

Definitively that's the problem, I would like to know which versions of upower
and libssl1 do you have, can you post the output of the following commands?

apt-cache policy upower

dpkg -l | grep libssl

You can find it at:

Try with the shortcut CTRL+Alt+V, which should show the clipboard list on the

I've seen that on Sid there are packages from Libreoffice 6.1 RC2, which
includes the new package libreoffice-kde5 which provides a really good
integration with the Plasma Desktop.
It includes the widget style and the KDE file open/save dialog and they work
great.

Did you upgrade libkf5windowsystem5 to 5.13?, if yes that's the reason,
because this package is missing these two files:

usr/lib/*/qt5/plugins/kf5/org.kde.kwindowsystem.platforms/KF5WindowSystemWaylandPlugin.so
usr/lib/*/qt5/plugins/kf5/org.kde.kwindowsystem.platforms/KF5WindowSystemX11Plugin.so

In the meantime, you can downgrade libkf5windowsystem5 and libkf5windowsystem-
data to 5.12 and it should solve your troubles.

I updated to Qt 4.8.4 because KDE 4.10 exposed some bugs on my setup that

Anyone know if github or gitorious can host a debian repository?

BTW, I just builded PyKDE4 and kdepim-runtime with kolab support packages.

To build PyKDE4 from 4.10 rc3 I just needed to make minor adjustments to the
debian patches and build with python-qt and python-sip packages from

Unfortunately not, but I have no trouble uploading if someone gives me access
to one.
Although, that these packages work for me, I have to admit, they can't compare
with the Debian ones and they need a bit more work.
Also because of other particular needs, right now, these packages are builded
with other more recent stuff that I builded myself, like Mesa 9.0.1, and Qt
4.8.4 (because it fixed some bugs that affected me with 4.10).
But I can try to rebuild on a clean machine.

I started from debian git repositories and compared with the kubuntu ones, and
mixed some stuff, for example, some debian patches were more updated on the
kubuntu repositorie, but on kdepim, because debian was too older, I just took
the kubuntu one and adapted from there, but not much really.

My impressions on KDE and KDEPIM 4.10

2013-01-20 Thread Josep Febrer
Hi,

As others have expressed on the list, I have build my own packages of KDE 4.10
rc3, first I based on current debian scripts and also took a look at the ubuntu
packages and got some missing stuff from there.

I just upgraded from current 4.8 packages from sid. I didn't upgrade all the
packages just the ones I use most, and I have to say that things went quite
smooth, KDE 4.10 seems quite solid on my systems.

Also I take my chances and I upgraded KDEPIM from sid 4.4.11 packages to my
own 4.10 rc3. My initial trouble was that I was using the Akonadi SQLite
backend and with that backend the migration failed, then I read that this
backend it's not in a good status now.
When I switched to the Akonadi MySQL backend the migration was successful, it
migrated all my mails and accounts, the only thing missing was the KMail
filters.
I repetead this migration on another machine upgrading also from 4.4.11, there
first I switched Akonadi to the MySQL backend and then the migration wizard did
migrated everything successfully except the KMail filters. The other difference
here, is that I have various imap accounts but I didn't have any particular
issue, and in fact things worked quite well, and my impression is that the
imap support improved..
Also Kontact, or Kaddressbook and Korganizer, got very good support for CalDAV
and CardDAV.
The Akonadi MySQL backend uses a bit more memory but it's much faster than
SQLite's.

If someone is interested I will reproduce my steps to migrate Akonadi from
SQLite to MySQL backend:

First stop akonadi with this command:

akonadictl stop

Check and wait until it is stopped with:

akonadictl status

Then I moved the Akonadi configuration and storage directories:

mv .config/akonadi .config/akonadi.bak
mv .local/share/akonadi .local/share/akonadi.bak

Start Akonadi which will recreate the configuration and it's database with the
MySQL backend.

akonadictl start

Then if you run either KMail or Kontact it will start the migration wizard, if
for some reason it fails and you want to start the migration again you have to
remove .kde/share/config/kmail-migratorrc and also I recommend with a clean
Akoandi with the steps I mentioned above.

Overall I am really satisfied with this upgrade.

Josep

Thank you Martin for your packages, I tested here your digikam packages and
they work perfectlly.

I'm using the phonon VLC backend with PulseAudio, also on another machine I
tested your packages with the same setup plus packages from deb-multimedia and
I also I haven't any issue.

I've installed it and I had no problems with KMail, Kaddressbook and
Korganizer, or all of them trough Kontact.

Also I could finally use my davical calendar via Akonadi Caldav support, and
contacts with Owncloud via Akonadii Carddav.

For what I tested it worked very well, if I found any issues I'll let you
know.

I can finally ditch Thundebird with Lightning for my calendar and tasks needs

Perhaps you can send a screenshot when this popup appears, in this way it will
be much easier to help you.

To do it just press the PrintScreen key and ksnapshot will appear with the
screenshot, you just have to press the save button.

Many people reported improved performance under KDE 4.6 Kwin's and I read that
there a lot of other bugfixes as well.

Have you tried to disable IPv6 for Konqueror?

To do it you just have to export this variable:

export KDE_NO_IPV6=true

To make it permanent across reboots, you can insert that line
on /etc/environment

Re: Kde with obj prelink

I compiled all the KDE 2.2.2 on a Debian woody with objprelink two weeks ago.
The result was that when KDE starts all segfaults. From icewm the only
application than run without any problems was konsole, konq starts very fast
and their performance was great but crash when it want to display a file, the
sidebar, etc.
The result was unusable. The problem could be with binutils.
According with Linux From Scratch:

"You'll need the latest version of binutils (2.11.2 at this point), and if
any of glibc, gcc or binutils were compiled with optimizations there is a
chance that everything you prelink will segfault when run. Prelinking failed
for me on my LFS 2.4.3 system where those were built with optimizations; on a
LFS 3.0 system where glibc, gcc and binutils were compiled with no
optimizations and everything else was built -O3 -march=i386 -mcpu=i686,
prelinking worked fine. Proceed with caution."

KDE 2.2.2 crash when it's compiled when objprelink

2002-02-26 Thread Josep Febrer Salord
I don't know if this is the appropiate place to discuss objprelink problems
with KDE, but if someone can help me I apreciate it a lot.
I tried to build KDE 2.2.2 from the Debian sources generating binary
packages compiled with objprelink and optimizations for 686.
I get objprelink form:
http://leon.bottou.com/objprelink/

I compiled Qt with the patch from this page with the Debian sources
generating a binary debian package.
After compiling and installing the Qt and kdelibs binaries that I generated I
have no problems, but I don't notice anything especial.
Later I compiled kdebase always from the Debian sources with objprelink.
After installing these packages kdm crashes when it want to display the
background image, but fortunatelly I can login. KDE seems to load more faster
than ever but crashed when it want to launch kicker and absolutelly nothing
appears.
>From IceWM I started konqueror from an xterm and it loads amazing fast and
their performance are very great but always crashed when I want to see the
sidebar or want to display everything. On the contrary konsole is the only
application that works and also loads fast.

I'm running woody with KDE 2.2.2 and their dependences from unstable with
binutils 2.11.92.0.12.3-2.
>From the Linux From Scratch project also I read this:
"You'll need the latest version of binutils (2.11.2 at this point), and if

Also I don't have any problems compiling KDE with objprelink.
Are there anyone that enjoy with objprelink on Debian?
Any help will be sincerelly appreciated, I felt the speed of objprelink on my
P II 350, but I can't applied.

Where can I find ISOs of Debian Sid with KDE 2.2.2?

2001-12-12 Thread Josep Febrer
I found this:
ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/CDROM-Images/debian-unofficial/sid
The problem is that these images are from 20th november and I think that KDE
2.2.2 are not available on this day.
I sincerelly appreciate if someone can indicate me where can I find cd images
more updated.of Debian Sid?

Suggestion for the Enhanced Browsing

2001-11-16 Thread Josep Febrer
Ivan, I feel that for some people this can be useful if it's installed for
default.
Add an entry for Searching Debian Packages on the Konqueror's Enhanced
Browsing
Debian Sid packages on the Search URL tab:
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=\1&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=unstable
And for URL Shortcurts tab: debuns.
Debian Testing packages on Search URL tab:
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=\1&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=testing
And for URL Shortcuts tab: debtest
Debian Stable packages on Search URL tab:
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=\1&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=stable
And for URL Shortcurts tab: debstab
All (sid,woody,potato) Debian Packages
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=\1&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=all
And for URL Shortcuts tab:deb
I think it's more pleasant type on Konqueror debuns:konqueror that to go on
packages.debian.org.
And if there is rpmfind why not debian?

Excuse my english.

Look at the file /etc/papersize. Just change "Letter" for "a4".
This worked for me.

How can I disable the shortcurt CTRL+TAB on KDE2?

2001-04-16 Thread Josep Febrer
I use during many hours the GIMP. The GIMP uses the shortcurts ALT+TAB or
CTRL+TAB to change layers.
KDE2 uses ALT+TAB that I find very useful, but CTRL+TAB also uses to change
the desktop that isn't useful for me. To change the desktop I already have
enough me with CTRL+F1, F2, etc.
In the Control Center seemingly doesn't exists the posibility of disabling
CTRL+TAB, how can I make it?
