Bug#527544: The backtrace and the reason of the crash

2009-05-08 Thread M. Vefa Bicakci
Hello,

I have obtained a backtrace for the crash using gdb. One thing that
I noticed was that even though the strigi library is supposed to use
libexiv2.so.5, according to the backtrace, it uses libexiv2.so.4.

I believe that the crash occurs because strigi library links against
libexiv2.so.5 whereas gwenview links against libexiv2.so.4. This
probably creates a conflict, causing a crash.

Furthermore, I recompiled the kdegraphics source package on my system,
and now that my version of gwenview links against libexiv2.so.5, it
does not crash.

So all the maintainer for this package has to do is rebuild kdegraphics
and make sure that it links against libexiv2.so.5 and not *.4. In other
words, libexiv2-5, version 0.18.1-1 should be the build and run-time
dependency for kdegraphics (and not libexiv2-4, version 0.17.1-1.)

M. Vefa Bicakci

Bug#527544: gwenview started to crash after libstreamanalyzer0's update to 0.6.5-1+b1

2009-05-07 Thread M. Vefa Bicakci
Package: gwenview
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: package is unusable for a very common use case

Hello,

After libstreamanalyzer0 was updated from 0.6.5-1 to 0.6.5-1+b1 in Sid,
gwenview started to crash when pointed to a directory with JPEG files
which have EXIF headers.

I can reproduce this bug whenever I navigate in gwenview to the directory
containing my digital photos.

When I downgrade libstreamanalyzer0 to 0.6.5-1 from Squeeze, gwenview does
not crash.

Regards,

M. Vefa Bicakci

Bug#525570: Qt4 asks for opensource/commercial version during build

2009-04-25 Thread M. Vefa Bicakci
Source: qt4-x11
Version: 4.5.1-1
Tags: patch

Hello,

When one tries to rebuild the Qt4 packages from the source
package qt4-x11, the configure script of Qt4 asks whether
one would like to build the open source or commercial version
and getting past this question requires manual intervention.

Fortunately, the configure script has an option -opensource
which can be used to avoid asking this question to the person
rebuilding the package from source.

Attached is the patch to the debian/rules file which fixes
this problem.

M. Vefa Bicakci

Bug#525175: kdebase-runtime: kdesu not in path

2009-04-22 Thread M. Vefa Bicakci
Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I just noticed that kdesu (or a symbolic link pointing to it)
is not installed to a directory in PATH by default.

kdesu is installed to /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu. I believe
that there should at least be a symbolic link to it in /usr/bin/.

For the record, this problem was reported (and fixed) before,
(see [1]) but it looks like a regression has occurred.

Regards,

M. Vefa Bicakci
