And when libvorbis0a hits sid, we willl have to choose for some time
between kde and a lot of other packages which depend on libvorbis0
(mplayer, zinf etc..)

Not all packages exist yet in debian + some programs were removed by KDE
when they switched from 2.2 to 3.1.

For the programs that don't exist anymore: no solution.
For the others: wait for the debianization.

Use dselect and don't ask for instalation of the packages in 2.2
version.

2003-02-10 Thread Michel Loos

I just installed debian on an SpacrUltra5, without any problems.

But I am unable to find a sparc64 binary for OpenOffice.org-bin.
Off course I am trying to build it fromm source, but I am unsuccesfull
for the last 2 days.

Is there any chance I can make it or did somebody else try for much
longer without success?

Same thing here much faster as KDE2.2.2. I am talking about KDE3.0.1
from debs. My own compilation was slower.

Seems there was a really great job done for the .debs, but I really miss
wine which gets broken by this installation of KDE3.0.1 from .debs.

Hi,

Will libarts1 be compatible with libarts at some point?
(Wine depends on libarts)

100% correct. Apple lost the Macintosh-PC war because most of the games
running on "serious" machines (that was the time where there were a lot
of 8bit home computers + the Amiga as pure diversion computers) came out
on PC before (if ever) on Mac.

When Games will be put on the market at the same timeon Linux and
Windows. Linux will win, because in addition it is more "serious".

Probably a problem with gpm: just desactivate gpm

/etc/init.d/gpm stop

and remove it from your startup since it seems you don t use the
console.

/usr/bin/update-rc.d -f gpm remove

You probably will have to restart the X manager (kdm or equivalent) with
CTL+ALT+Backspace

You never need to reboot the system, just pass the correct commands.
