Problem installing Windows 2000 in Bochs

Dear all,

Problem With Altgr key, can not type |, @, ~

2004-08-27 Thread Oleg
Dear all,
after upgrading Debian to Sarge the AltGr key stop working properly. I
am using German Keyboard. I can not get |, @, ~ symbols. This only
happens in KDE. In terminal everything works fine. I tried to choose
different keyboard layouts in Control Center but it did not help.
I have this problem on my Notebook and PC both running Debian Sarge.
Thanks a lot in advance

dpkg errors involving KDE3, libarts and kmail

2003-03-12 Thread Oleg
Hi

I use Debian 3.0 + KDE3 + X4.2 + OCaml 3.0.6 (see sources.list below)

When I do `apt-get update`, I get the following error:

Unpacking replacement libarts1 ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libarts1_1.1.0-0woody4_i386.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libqtmcop.so.1.0.0', which is also in package
libarts1-qt
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libarts1_1.1.0-0woody4_i386.deb

I've probably made a mistake when I did `apt-get install kmail` even though
kmail was being "held back", but I thought I had to do it, because my
original kmail didn't work (crashing when I hit "reply")

Many thanks in advance,
Oleg

BTW, how can you tell which process accesses the HD and how often? strace ? I
wonder if there is a top-like utility, but for HD access instead of CPU
usage.

layouts don't work in woody

2002-11-26 Thread Oleg
Hi

It's impossible to switch the keyboard layouts in Woody KDE: When I go to
ControlCenter/Peripherals/Keyboard and select additional layouts, no layout
switch appears anywhere on the desktop. Restarting KDE and X doesn't help.
Is this a bug?

Thanks
Oleg
P.S. apt-cache search layout | grep -i kde gives nothing, so I'm probably
not missing any software.

CapsLock doesn't work in Woody KDE2.2.2

2002-11-26 Thread Oleg
Hi

My CapsLock doesn't work in Woody KDE2.2.2. This is strange because it works
in the console (Ctrl-Alt-F1). This is also very frustrating because I'm
trying to make AOLers believe I'm one of them! If you have any ideas
regarding how to fix this, please let me know.

Thanks
Oleg

It looks good to me, I had updated my woody a day ago. Try to change a
Control Panel -> Look & Feel -> Style, window decoration or theme. I had
some problems then konqueror could crash under some of the styles for
example. I am using KDE-SGI at the moment.

Do you have anti-aliasing fonts ON in KDE? It slows down my box at least.

Window Raise from konsole

2002-02-22 Thread Oleg Cherkasov
Hi,

Does anybody know how to ask kwin raise some window (by name for example)?
Is there any command line arguments for kwin or how can I use DCOP for this?

I have process running in konsole, so I would like to bring this window up as
soon as something will happened in it. The idea is to have a script which
accepts one argument, window name. This window will be raised ...

I am running woody, KDE 2.2.2

Thank you,
Oleg

Think it is called kpackage:

This is a frontend to both .rpm and .deb package formats. It allows you

Just a silly idea, try start it as:

LANG=C ./setup

Just in case if you are running on different locale. For example Oracle
8.1.6 install has the same problem, it just hangs (doing something in
