kde-minimal dependency problem (libxxf86misc1)
There is an installation problem KDE in unstable. Package libxxf86misc1 is present in unstable but only avr32 and m68k ports while other architectures (amd64, i386, etc) were moved to testing. [1] kde-minimal depends on kdebase-workspace, depends on kdebase-workspace-bin, depends on libxxf86misc1 which as I said is not avaliable in unstable for most architectures. Re: Imposible upgrade lenny to sid
You need first to update your kernel. udev = 150 needs a kernel = 2.6.31 with CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED not set. The problem is that updating the kernel is not enough, you must be running it. So update your kernel first to unstable (will install 2.6.32), reboot and udev will update ok. Tell me if you have trouble installing kde-minimal. A friend (experienced IT) told me that it fails because of the googlegadgets packages but as I see the dependency chain is: kde-minimal -depends- kdebase-workspace -depends- kdebase-workspace-bin -suggests- plasma-scriptengines -depends- plasma-scriptengine-googlegadgets As plasma-scriptengines is only suggested may work but may be there another path for dependencies. So please notice if it fails. Cheers, Ramon Antonio On Mon, Feb 15, 2010 at 7:19 PM, Guan de dio guan.de...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all, Currently I try to pass my Debian lenny to sid. Re: Iceweasel theme for KDE4
Hi, isn't there a possibilty to reuse all oxygen icons? IMHO the combined back/forward button looks wired. Another question is if the theming can be done by some kind of gtk-qt-engine. The wrong background color of tabs is an example Hello, icons look exactly like OSX and Vista ones. I considered this important because I still wanna feel I'm using Firefox 3, not 2. These buttons are a design improvement in the new version of the navigator. The big back button has the purpose of improving usability so that's the reason I used it. So what I am doing by now is taking Firefox 3 design and putting KDE4 colors. I planned to use this button but to change the color (KDE4 back buttons are darker) and design (KDE4 shades are not so rounded) some little to fit KDE4. I won't have much time until Tuesday to do this and many things that must be changed in tabs, status bar, menus, address and search fields, some icons, etc. All these changes will make the theme look more KDE4 because of work is 5% done. gtk apps apperance under kde4
Hello, one of the problems I see for adoption of KDE 4 is gtk apps appearance. I want to make to concrete suggestions but don't know if are best and/or affordable. One of the possible solutions is an update to gtk-qt-engine package (I think doesn't depends on Qt/KDE Maintainers group). Last version is 1.1 (last package version is 0.8). I got some errors during compilation and had no time to check them. Later discovered that OpenSUSE and Ubuntu have created a kde4-gtk-qt-engine package. I think this is best solution, creating a different package for qt4. As it provides integration with SystemSettings and compilation depends on kde4 development packages and systemsettings this new package would be better included in kde/qt group. Website: http://gtk-qt.ecs.soton.ac.uk/ Also Firefox 3 is adapting it's appearance to Gnome but nobody provides a solution for KDE. Today upgraded to iceweasel 3.0~b5-1 and my buttons disappeared so had to install iceweasel-gnome-support. It provides a theme and I think also improves integration looking Gnome configuration to check if it's default browser. User experience is like having a retro-firefox back from 90s that asks for confirmation to be default browser every time I run it. Any member of the group or user knows about a theme for KDE4 that could be packaged into iceweasel-kde4-support? Re: Important for KDE 4 users: KDE 4.0.3 and KDE 4.1 trunk
Are you really sure that removing libqt4-core and adding libqtcore4 is a good idea? Maybe can be different packages but what I really care about is dependencies. Any application that runs with libqt4-core 4.3 will run if you have installed libqtcore4. Compatibility must be maintained forward, not backward. 1. User's won't just have problems when updating to qt 4.4. External packages like skype will take months for updating, becoming broken. (Runs ok both with libqt4-core 4.3 and libqtcore4 4.4 but depends on libqt4-core). Then they will have to deal with Ubuntu Dapper that includes libqt4-core 4.3. 3. After that don't know if Ubuntu will do the same renaming for next version but many people will still use Dapper so in worst case there will be three or four different combinations and packages (or dependency changes) must be done to deal with this situation. Don't have a good knowledge of the reasons for renaming but please, Keep It Simple -- Ramon Antonio Parada Skype: ramon.parada Spain: +34 651 948819 US: +1 (310) 651-8072 http://ramonantonio.net/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
