So when is 4.11 getting to Debian repos? :) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org Archive: http://lists.debian.org/52434cde.4050...@yahoo.com
Re: Font anti-aliasing looking weird in Firefox?
I experience exactly the same thing. It must have nothing to do with KDE though, because I use MATE environment. So, if you put all kde translations in kde-i18n-**, you will have to do this with the others kde apps which have a different release cycle. For example : a new version of k3b is released. You have to take the new k3b.po and re-upload kde-i18n. If I want to upgrade k3b, I have to download i18n-xy just for k3b.po And the users would have to always keep the last stable version of every kde apps they want. And what if I want to keep an old koffice with the last kde ? Option 3 is very not modular... I also vote for option 2. > This is of course a mess to sort out since the apps are on different > release cycles. That is the big problem with option 3. > > b. :)

Be careful to potential security issues.

The analog cable was useful for 486, but I really think that it is outdated now (maybe for some old drives that can't extract audio digitally). The problem is that the current linux kernel is unable to use DMA for audio ripping (related to the sector size) on IDE drives. And without DMA, the cpu load is high... Something like playing a dvd video vithout overlay...

For extragear, where each app has its own release cycle, upstreams asks packagers to include i18n stuff with the application. OK, it's what we are doing. But what is the difference between any extragear app and koffice ? The only one that I can see is the size : koffice is much bigger, so including the whole i18n stuff in one package would make a too big package (as Ben said). Now, imagine that an extragear app become quite big, with big i18n stuff : we will have the same problem that with koffice now. If we now put koffice i18n stuff in the kde i18n-foo packages (which is quite a hack, since we merge several branches), what will we do for this extragear app ? Will we put its i18n stuff in the kde i18n packages too ? This would be quite hard for i18n maintainers : take kde from KDE_x_y_BRANCH, koffice from KOFFICE_x_y_BRANCH, and some extragear apps (but not the whole module) from HEAD ?

So they would have to remove the koffice i18n files in KDE_x_y_BRANCH (I still don't understand why some koffice i18n is tagged in this branch) and use the ones in KOFFICE_x_y_BRANCH. But what about the version number ? If we use the one of the last KDE release, how to know which version of koffice is translated in ?

When a kde branch is created (like the current 3.1 branch), all the i18n contents are tagged, even kdenonbeta, kdeextragear and koffice, which should not. As Charles said previously, it is quite confusing, because these modules shouldn't be translated in this branch. So, if you use it, you will get no / a strange translation, since no body care of it.

Ralf's sid packages : only default font is available
Hi everybody ! I just switched to Ralf's 3.1 packages (sid). They are working perfectly, except that only the default (fixed) font is available. In fact, I can choose the font I want (the full lists appears), but whatever the one I select, the default one is always printing. It is not related to XF, since my old home-made packages can still display every fonts without problem. If it can help, I found this in my ~/.xsession-errors : Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file Does anybody know where this problem comes from ? Thanks a lot,
