missing gs fonts in KDE
Hello- I've got a stock woody (3.0) box with X4.1 and KDE2.2.2. I recently lost my gs fonts in X after playing around with the AA in KDE2.2.2. After I initially got KDE running, the gs fonts (helvetica, times, symbol, etc) were available to the system. I checked the "enable AA fonts" box in the control center, restarted KDE, and noticed that many of the gs didn't look as good. I unchecked the AA fonts box, restarted KDE again, and they were all gone. The fonts are available to other X apps, but just not KDE. Any ideas where to begin, or is this a bug that will be worked out in later releases? -Stephen p.s.- please cc: me, I'm not on the list. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". task-kde* for testing/unstable
Okay guys, now I'm confused...and reading thru the archives has not helped. I just gave my potato box a woody, i.e.- stable->testing. I'm reading through the archives about all these great new AA features, and where the docs are, etc. But the thing I find most puzzling iswhere are the task-kde* debs? I really liked my potato box, and I'm new to the testing/unstable thing, so don't be too harsh...I'm a very sensitve person. Are there any task packages in testing/unstable? ...and where is that task-anti-aliasing package I read so much about? Thanks. Sheepishly, Stephen
kde 2.2 on alpha
>>guess what...it builds & works now. Happy...uhh...4th of July..yea..that's >>close enough. Does this mean we'll see kde 2.2 in the next stable debian release, i.e.- woody?
lost kscreensavers
kscreensavers seems to have been lost on my last update (potato). In the control panel, the names of the screensavers are listed, but selecting them has no effect, i.e.- can't "setup" or "test" them. However, you can see the screesavers by starting K -> System -> ScreenSaver Preview. Any ideas? -Stephen
possible new kde.tdyc.com location
Sorry for being a little late on this one guys...been really busy this week. I wanted to offer some help on this issue because I think it's so important and I REALLY appreciate all the work Ivan does for all of us. Ivan- What kind of connection do you need for the kde/potato master server? I have access to a 10Mbit internet connection that you could plug your box into to use for the master server, assuming you would be doing the remote administration. Another possiblilty is that I could donate an old box (P200) that is collecting dust to use for the master server assuming a good connection is all you need. It would be way too slow to build packages, but might be okay as a your master server. -Stephen
kcheckpass fails to authenticate
This morning I upgraded the kde packages that were available for potato. After I locked my screen in KDE, I was unable to unlock it (log back in). I then killed the x-server and tried to log back in thru kdm...no dice. KDM would not let any users log in...even root. There were no problems loggin in to a normal shell however. I found this in /var/log/auth.log: Mar 9 10:30:19 cartman kcheckpass[499]: authentication failure for user uhlhorn [uid 1000] Anyone know what happened? Thanks, Stephen
