That's your thumbnail cache for various programs. If you don't mind 
waiting for them to be regenerated every time you visit another 
directory, you can delete its contents to save space

hello,
I have just discovered in my system the hidden directory
/home/user/.thumbnails which has a lot of pictures taking a lot of disk
space but without any purpose to my eyes.
How can I disable it in my kde 3.1.2 ?
