I've done something similar. The situation was a bit different in that you needed to make sure _not_ everybody comes in and you have to let the user in yourself. But that doesn't change much to the solution. Just start kdm or somthing similar that says "start" which the user can click on. Then remove the old home and install a fresh one from a copy. Write an app that always stays on top and that says "restart". As soon as you click that you'll log out and end up in kdm (or whatever that is). *t Tomas Pospisek SourcePole - Linux & Open Source Solutions http://sourcepole.ch Elestastrasse 18, 7310 Bad Ragaz, Switzerland Tel: +41 (81) 330 77 11 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Custom KDE/KDM for Internet access only
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I am trying to set up a Linux box (Debian Woody) for Internet access and a few games only. This will be openly accessible to the public (with some monitoring to avoid damage to hardware). So it should autologin and all ways to custonize the system should be desactivated. And I want to use KDE. Autologin works with KDM (kde2) but the user can still quit the session, and autologin then doesn't work. So my questions are : - - how to desactivate customization of the menu bar ? - - how to desactivate login off ? Everything else works alright.
