Tried this; both were up to date. Reinstalled. Still nothing in Kcontrol centre. Strange. It took me ages to remove the Knoppix stuff from all nooks and crannies of the system. I definitely recommend using the (100MB beta 3) testing installer to start from testing, which should be very stable by now. I guess this will become even easier when full (with working installer) testing cd images become available over the next months. Then see what packages need to be newer and use sid for only those. That's what I'm going to do with this box. Good luck, John ---

It's the old half-hour install .v. lifetime of maintenance argument all over again, I know. Nonetheless, I don't get it. I also don't get how distributions that aren't Debian can claim to be 100% compatible with Debian, given the surfeit of anecdotal evidence to the contrary. Jedd.

Re: KDE 3.2: Control Center almost gone
Hi, I installed Debian by upgrading Debian from stable through testing to unstable (sid) (since at the time the testing installer did not work) and I have no such problems. Seems like the control centre can't find the modules; the few that show up (K3bSetup, Digital Camera) seem to crash when I try to access them. Could this be a problem that occurs when moving from a Debian based system (Knoppix, Mepis, Libranet etc.) to a straight Sid system? Anyone have this problem in a straight upgrade from sid? Bruce
KDE 3.2: Control Center almost gone
I notice that, on my Debian/Libranet system, KDE unstable has almost nothing in the the Control Center.
