It works fine here. I've got the same packages installed, moving the mouse after locking the desktop crashes kdesktop_lock. Any idea how to fix this? I had to downgrade from the unofficial KDM 3.4.0-opre1 I had installed, to the new 3.3.2-1b after the kdebase-bin was upgraded to 3.4.0-0pre1b . Stephen -- Debian the choice of a GNU generation. I can only send the .diff between the knotifyrc I saved and the new ~/.kde/share/config/knotifyrc as there was no new~/.kde/share/config/knotify.eventsrc recreated on my install. I was having difficulty getting apt to install the correct versions, so I downloaded the packages I needed and installed by hand. Searching for all packages with a version containing '3.3.2' produces three, from kdesdk. aRts is definitely from 3.4.0. I'm using libogg0 1.1.0 and libvorbis0a 1.0.1, which appear to the the only versions available in either sid or sarge. I hate dumping my KDE config when upgrading. Does anyone know how to fix this without doing that?

Yes I have to build the package for 3.4 again, one library has moved from kdebase-bin to kdm, but my kdm is too old. no time for it anyway, but if someone of the kde team has built the package, I'll put it in place of the old one -- ·O· Pierre Habouzit ··O OOOhttp://www.madism.org pgpPKJ0NPSUrB.pgp Description: PGP signature

Hello Ian, works here. I installed KDE 3.4 today on my IBM ThinkPad T23. Maybe you have some old 3.3.2 / 3.3.1 packages floating around? I had to select version 3.4.0 for most of the packages manually to get them upgraded. Regards, -- Martin 'Helios' Steigerwald - http://www.Lichtvoll.de

Hello, I installed KDE 3.4 today with kdm_3.3.2-1b_i386.deb and kdebase-bin_3.4.0-0pre1b_i386.deb. It works fine here. kdm_3.4.0-0-pre1_i386.deb gives the error message "No greeter widget plugin loaded. Check the configuration." But well no bugs should be reported on that one I read ;-). Would like to test fast-user switching which should work with kdm 3.4. Transistion from KDE 3.3.2/3.3.1 to 3.4 seemed quite smooth up to know, aside from that an "apt-get dist-upgrade" wasn't enough here. I had to specifically select version 4:3.4.0-0-pre1 for most of the packages to teach apt-get to upgrade them. Lets see what comes in the next weeks of testing ;-). The unofficial kdm 3.4.0 package solved my problem. I think I'll stick with it until kdm 3.4.0 has a more official package. Thanks for the response.

Haven't tried the 3.4.0 package yet. Right. There is a bug in the kdebase << 3.3.2-1 (3.3.2-2 is ready in SVN, but not uploaded) that incorrectly puts the greeter libs in kdebase-bin, instead of kdm. We tend to minimize the number of uploads since they are costly for us, but since this is an important issue, I've finally got around to prepare fixed packages. Just apt-get update && apt-get upgrade should solve now. (It will install new versions of kdebase-bin 3.4.0 and kdm 3.3.2.)
