A very wise desicion, kind thoughts coming your way. I have always had lots of
extra work with dpkg --force-all with kvim and vim on my computers, and this
now will have an end.

I owe Doug Holland and everyone on the list an apology. I am sorry I jumped on
on you without checking but it was 1:45 in the morning my time and I was
doing something important so I just snapped and shot my mouth off. I get
annoyed when people make demands on debian and its devlopers, even more so
when using unstable, which - as the name Implies - contains bugs and
problems.

sorry again

I tried that package, but it conflicted with normal vim & refused to install
(though I noticed that you have your own vim packages in debian.freenux.org.

I'll just wait until things are updated in Sid - I already have a messy
sources.list. :p

BTW, sorry about my rant - I really like kvim.

we are on the way to add kvim in vim's sources package.
I should be able to generate the diff tonight and send it to Norbert for
inclusion into vim's pkgs.
I am not responsible for the original vim6.2 upload which should have kvim
integrated. I was not informed of the maintainer changes and Norbert did not
know about the planned kvim's integration so it broke things ...

no need to add another dup into the bts ;)
I am perfectly aware that me released a new kvim version ;)

cheers,
Mik

(kvim pkgs on debian.freenux.org should still work btw)

Well, FWIW Chris isn't responsible for kvim anyway:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> apt-cache show kvim
  Package: kvim
  ...
  Maintainer: Mickael Marchand <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

/me counts to ten, breathes deeply and calms down.

Sorry about the rant. I just solved the problem by removing kvim and the /
usr/bin/vim diversion.

give chris a break, He is trying to build and upload all of kde 3.1.4 and it
is certain that something will have been broken or lost in the process. You
could always backport to 3.1.3 and wait until Oct 7th for 3.1.4 to be
finished.

Every time I think that perhaps we are an advanced race, I turn around and

When's kvim going to be updated?

2003-09-30 Thread Doug Holland
The kvim currently in sid diverts the regular vim binary to vim.old, meaning
if I start a konsole and type vim foo.gz, it doesn't decompress, because
kvim's the wrong version.

Somebody update kvim, TODAY!!!
