When changing virtual desktops in KDE and going back to KBabel's one it
takes reasonable amount of time (a few seconds, e.g 10s) to redraw
KBabel window, during which KBabel is just frozen.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Run KBabel
2. Open a .po file
3. Switch desktop to different one
4. Go back to KBabel's desktop
Now the situation happens.

What can be related to this bug:
1. Size of .po file - the bigger, the longer time is. Not verified,
though.
2. KBabel's database - I can remember that some crashes in KBabel were
fixed after a database directory removal. I can't remember what it was
exactly.

After attaching strace to KBabel it reveals that:

Bug#447102: kbabel: Crashes when opening *any* PO file

It's pretty likely that this is realted to various changes in KDE stuff.

I'm currently running an up-to-date unstable system, which had a big update
as of yesterday (requiring a restart of my KDE session to get things working
 back).

Since then (and only since then), KDE is no longer working:

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/src/debian/iso-codes/iso-codes kbabel iso_3166/fr.po
ERROR: Communication problem with kbabel, it probably crashed.

The splash screen indeed briefly appears then vanishes.

I suspect some library compatibility problem.

There are little changes in the way kde is started now. can you check you have
updated ksmserver (3.5.8) and you have installed start_kdeinit_wrapper and
star_kdeinit ? (both under /usr/bin)

I think you might be hit by #446970.

Ana

Bug#215992: kbabel crashes on opening a PO file (after todays kde packages update)

2006-11-02 Thread Erik Schanze
Hi,

after todays update of KDE packages I have seen Kbabel crshing on
opening several PO-Files.

I followed the suggested URL:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121376
and moved ~/.kde/share/apps/kbabeldict/dbsearchengine away.

After that Kbabel works again.

HTH,
Erik

I have just rebuilt the kbabel package, that's why I have 3.5.2-1
instead of +b2 (or sth similar). Please apply means I would like to
see it in Debian patches for upcoming (I hope) 3.5.3 Debian packages,
because I don't know when it will be applied upstream.
The patch comes from http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116906, its
 author is Olivier Trichet.

This was just committed upstream, so the next package will contain the
fix. We're just waiting for Daniel Schepler to upload kdepim 3.5.3 and
his other modules, for the time being...

Cheers,
Christopher Martin

KBabel crashes when I get to the 6th string in a file (Dutch
translation of Debian release notes for Sarge).
No crash dialog is shown; if I start kbabel from the command line, the
only thing I get is segmentation fault.

I tried running the program in strace (strace kbabel --no-fork
file) but when I do, the crash does _not_ happen.
Running with --no-fork but without strace _does_ crash.

This problem has been reported as #96650 in KDE's BTS:

Hello,

I have found that is rather hard to mark strings that I am not so sure
on their translation with the fuzzy attribute.

A 'fuzzy' button would be a good thing to add to the UI.

Let's consider you means it sufficient (as a kbabel user, I do think
so :-) ), and mark this request as done.

Bugs 308180 (kbabel seaches next instead of saving (after doing a find
next)) and 308971 (find next is not supported for the comment field) are
not reproductible with current kbabel version.

Indeed, I can't reproduce these bugs, either. Probably have been fixed.

Hello,

title says it all.

Steps to reproduce bug:
open a big po file.
seach for a common string (press ctrl+f)
search for the next occurence (press F3)
search next again (F3)
try to save by pressing ctrl+s

Now kbabel should have passed to the next occurence of the seaarched
string instead of saving.

Bug#289646: kbabel patched

2005-03-24 Thread Ben Burton
severity 289646 important
thanks mate

Hi. I've uploaded a new kdesdk with the s/check/checkWord/ patch, so
I'm lowering the severity of this bug. I'm leaving it open however,
since kbabel was in fact using the kdelibs API as documented -- in
theory kbabel was doing nothing wrong, so the problem would seem to be
in kdelibs (and thus still unfixed at the root of the problem).

Ben.

Bug#289646: kbabel: crash with some .po file

2005-01-23 Thread Frans Pop
I've also been having crashes using kbabel in Sarge (see #289646). I've
had crashes with several po files now.

The behavior is somewhat eratic: when I first had the crash, I could
always reproduce it, now I find that sometimes the crash does not happen.
Very likely my crashes are related to this BR.

The tag 'sid' for this bug is probably _not_ correct!

Hi Rafael,

It looks like some of the files that belong in kbabel are actually in
kbabel-dev, I will correct this issue in my next release, but in the
meantime, apt-get install kbabel-dev should get you the files you need.
