Same here. KMail shows that there are new messages, but "+" does not jump to a
new one, and if I search the folder "manually" I can see, that there are no
new messages.

Restarting KMail usually fixes the problem, but it seems that the kio_imap
slaves are the ones which have to be restarted.

Last time I tried it, it wouldn't talk to my courier-imap server, but
reinstalled yesterday and it is working - though I've experienced (once) the
same problem Mark Purcell reports.

It supports IMAP for me when I first startup kmail, but after I have
been online for a while and new messages come in they are shown as
a bold number of unread messages, but I can't scroll up/down to
actually read the new messages.

If I exit kmail and startup again then the new messages appear..

Very weird.

I've got the same problem. So I apt-get source --compile kmail.

This is so frustrating ! We patiently await the release of 3.1

to arrive through the normal route through the Debian system.
Many people of commented that there is no kmail (kdenetwork).

If I upgrade to KDE3.1 without kmail, will the kmail from the old
version work ? Not likely. Therefore, we must continue to wait
because we depend on kmail...
What is the status and/or reason kmail is not available yet ?
frustrated but not complaining...

I found it - apt-get install kdebase-kio-plugins
Maybe there should be dependency on this package.

Another question - what about kaddressbook?

Hi again;

I've used kdelibs4-dev instead of kdelibs-dev. Maybe you must compile
using -d flag.

I haven't try it but I've installed deb from Chris Cheney

deb http://people.debian.org/~ccheney/kde-other/ ./

I was unable to do that. kmail seems to require both kdelibs-dev and
libpng2-dev to compile, but they conflict with each other. Is anyone

I tracked down what it was (I have a few PowerPCs on hand), and smacked

Debian's ftpmasters have decided to sit on kdenetwork for a while, as
most KDE stuff refuses to compile on non-i386 architectures. I'm
investigating the problem.
