Bug#282905: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686: Same problem on Acer TM 801 with 2.6.8-13
Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686 Version: 2.6.8-13 Followup-For: Bug #282905 Hi, I seem to encounter the same problem on my Acer TravelMate 801LCi (1.4GHz Centrino). Booting kernel 2.6.8-2-686 stops with line: "ACPI: IRQ9 SCI: Edge set to Level Trigger." No key pressing has any effect. I have to switch the laptop off by holding the powerbutton. This stop seems to be 100% reproducible for me (~10 tests) - with one exception: I can boot 2.6.8-1-686 with no problems. When doing a reboot from here, I can start 2.6.8-2 exactly once. But when trying to reboot once more, 2.6.8-2 will again stop on the line mentioned above. Bootparam 'nolapic' does reliably work around the stop. I didn't encounter this problem on any of various 2.6 kernels between 2.6.0-test9 and 2.6.8-1. I'm attaching dmesg output from a successfully booted 2.6.8-2 (with the reboot from 2.6.8-1 trick) and lspci. Feel free to ask me if you need any additional information. Bug#268208: still a problem with kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp
I also have an Intel Motherboard D865GBF with a P4 w/hyperthreading. Today I finally decided to try the 2.6.8 kernel and experienced a kernel boot hang during ACPI detection. This is a REGRESSION. I run the 2.6.5 kernel just fine. I looked at the bug reports againt 2.6.10 kernel in unstable, but they include reports of problems with both SMP and RAID (not just XFS, even with EXT3, which I use), so I don't see that as being an option either, even if I were to put something from unstable on my system. I really hope a working kernel gets into sarge. dave <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(Well, maybe just an average teacher, but you get the jist). I know what good teachers do. Or I thought I did. I sat with the children at the computer. When they pressed the IntelliKeys' keyboard or the Touch Window' and the computer said the word, I repeated the word and then expanded on the word. After they had pressed the same word several times, I said, "That's right, that's a cat, can you find the dog?? Suddenly, I would see the child's back get stiff, and before you knew it, he got up and left the computer. I didn't understand. Just a few seconds ago, he loved it. What happened? I don't practice reading once a week.

Bug#292478: oops on boot with usb cdburner attached
If I unplug the usb burner, it does boot; so I guess it is the same bug. But here, 2.6.7 boots great with burner (and burns great). Only with 2.6.8 the trouble crept in. I'm sitting on a DELL Latitude D400, and here I attach the whole dmesg. Of cause, I boot without usb-burner; and attach the device later, so that you know its details (scroll down): [...] As of today, this is no longer true. But I am going to the mini-conf in Beijing next week, and I am planing to give a talk about what it is that the Kernel Team does. Or what it is that I think we do anyway. http://debian.org.cn/zh-cn/en/events/admc2005/schedule?set_language=en&cl=en I will probably also give this presentation at the mini-conf attached to LCA. http://www.debconf.org/miniconf4/ I will post the presentation here once it is ready. -- Horms -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
