Bug#502182: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: no usbatm and speedtch modules compiled for this kernel
* Kazimierz Pogoda [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2008-10-14 11:44]: After upgrading my NSLU2 to etch-and-a-half (the former kernel from etch is 2.6.18-6-ixp4xx) USB modem stopped working due to lack of speetch module, which is not included in the new kernel package. I suppose the I am not the only NSLU2 user for whom the etchnhalf release is unsuable because of this reason. Thanks for catching this, Kazimierz. I'll add the modules. -- Martin Michlmayr http://www.cyrius.com/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Julien, can you please confirm that this works when you get home tonight? Unable to confirm that this work: keyboard was not functionning when initramfs dropped the shell. However patching as described earlier do the trick. Cheers, -- Julien Danjou .''`. Bug#502182: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: no usbatm and speedtch modules compiled for this kernel
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx Version: 2.6.24-6~etchnhalf.5 Severity: normal I am using my NSLU2 device (Debian etch as OS) as a router with SpeedTouch DSL modem connected. After upgrading my NSLU2 to etch-and-a-half (the former kernel from etch is 2.6.18-6-ixp4xx) USB modem stopped working due to lack of speetch module, which is not included in the new kernel package. I suppose the I am not the only NSLU2 user for whom the etchnhalf release is unsuable because of this reason. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: arm (armv5tel) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-6-ixp4xx Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0]1.5.11etch2 Debian configuration management sy ii initramfs-tools [linux-initr 0.85i tools for generating an initramfs ii module-init-tools3.3-pre4-2 tools for managing Linux kernel mo linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx recommends no packages. -- debconf information: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/old-initrd-link-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/old-system-map-link-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/bootloader-initrd-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true shared/kernel-image/really-run-bootloader: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/lilo-has-ramdisk: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/depmod-error-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: false linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/failed-to-move-modules-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/create-kimage-link-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/prerm/would-invalidate-boot-loader-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/lilo-initrd-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/already-running-this-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/old-dir-initrd-link-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/abort-install-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: * linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/prerm/removing-running-kernel-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/depmod-error-initrd-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: false linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/overwriting-modules-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/bootloader-error-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/bootloader-test-error-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/abort-overwrite-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/postinst/kimage-is-a-directory: linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/elilo-initrd-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: true linux-image-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx/preinst/initrd-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-ixp4xx: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#494010: Source for dsp56k firmware
You wrote: On Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 08:10:53PM +0100, Ben Hutchings wrote: Here is the assembly-language source for the firmware, licenced under GPLv2. Very nice! Where did you find it? It was added to the upstream tree recently as part of the firmware separation effort. Adding this to the kernel source package should fix this bug. Actually, it should be assembled and used. AFAICT this is for an m68k processor. I suppose we have a command to assemble this code in binutils-multiarch or so? It's for a Motorola 56000 (aka DSP56000 or DSP56K) processor, which is a different architecture but maybe with some similarities. I doubt we have any of the necessary tools but the code is short enough to hand- assemble. However, as I understand it, this source was written by the same person as the driver and the binary that is embedded in it, and should assemble to exactly the same bits.
