Bug#708849: linux-image-3.2.0-4-kirkwood: Pogoplug Series 4 support

2013-05-18 Thread Likai Liu
Package: linux-image-3.2.0-4-kirkwood
Version: 3.2.41-2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

I have two patches against linux-image-3.2.0-4-kirkwood that adds support
for Pogoplug Series 4. One patch is cherry picked from archlinuxarm.patch
[1] with some local modifications. The second patch updates mach-types to
the latest version from [2]. They have been tested to work on my Pogo.

I will follow up with a second e-mail with the actual patches shortly.

Card has worked on debian but using a Via mainboard. Currently using an Intel
D2700DC Atom mainboard with latest bios.
I've done a clean install rather than an upgrade, so no 2.6 kernel. I tried
backports but it does not look like there is a 2.6 kernel there, but that
could be me.

I installed a centos based openvz 2.6 kernel which I use elsewhere on the same
motherboard. The result was incorrect initialisation, so this may be a wider
problem.

They should have been, but somehow I failed to note that these patches
were later. At this point, it's not worth bothering with as the next
upload should be based on 3.9.

The attached versions should work for 3.8.

Ben.

[...]

I think these very likely have the same cause - some kind of memory
corruption, probably use-after-free - so I'm merging them.

I notice that you're using reiserfs, which is unmaintained and is likely
to regress as the kernel changes. I suspect this could be the source of
the bug, and I would strongly recommend migrating to another filesystem
(but boot back into Linux 2.6.32 before doing so!).

Ben.

Bug#661860: Fixed in stable trees 3.2 and 3.8

2013-05-18 Thread Jordi Mallach
Some months ago I was bitten by this bug, found out the upstream driver
seemed to work better (with problems), etc.

I then got distracted, until today, as I need this wireless card to
work.

With much joy, I can report the current kernel version in unstable,
based on 3.8.12, works as expected. I've seen ben also merged this patch
for 3.2, however it was released with 3.2.42, and wheezy still has
3.2.41. I hope this will end up hitting wheezy via a point release in
the future.

Thanks Ben!

Bug#665881: I have this bug too...

2013-05-18 Thread Joan Cervan i Andreu
I'm sorry, I'm not a very advanced linux user, and I don't use to write
bug reports...

Well, I've updated my laptop from Squeeze to Wheezy.

After dist-upgrade, my kernel was 2.6.32-5-amd64

I use it for few days, and not extensively (my main computer is not this
laptop), and network seems OK

But today I've added linux-image-amd64 and I get new Wheezy kernel
3.2.0-4-amd64 and network problems start ;-)

"ath5k phy0: gain calibration timeout" shown in terminal and not
wireless networks available...

I've tried what I've read here: halt my system, unplug, and then restart
with 2.6 kernel and, by now, wifi network is ON

Please, if any further info could be useful, I can send you reports or
perform tests... Just tell me.

Regards

you should still be able to boot Linux 2.6.32.)
