Bug#802605: linux-image-4.2.0-0.bpo.1-amd64: Dell 7348 Airplane Mode Switch not working

2015-10-21 Thread Nicholas Cheng Yee Shen
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.2.1-2~bpo8+1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
A few months ago, I read that Dell had included airplane mode switch
functionality into the new Linux 4.2 kernel. I was using Arch that time, when
4.2 entered Arch repos, I installed the kernel release and found the switch to
be working. I've since migrated to Debian, and waited for 4.2 to be backported
into stable. I installed the backported kernel today. I rebooted my system and
tried using the switch but it didn't work. I rebooted a few more times to
verify whether it worked, it didn't.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I knew that the switch driver linked itself to rfkill so I checked to see
if rfkill was installed into my system and it was. I also thought that maybe
the module wasn't loaded but modprobe came up with nothing relating to the
driver (dell-rtbn) and lsmod didn't turn up with anything. I also thought that
maybe it wasn't included in this release, so I headed over to Debian Packages
and downloaded the source for the backported kernel. I verified the presence of
the driver source code under drivers/platform/x86/dell-rtbn.c and dell-rtbn.h.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
I've tried nothing else so far since my past experience with this switch
driver from Arch is that I simply needed to install the relevant kernel image.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected it to be a matter of installing the kernel and the switch would
work upon reboot.

Please re-include the MLX5 Infiniband driver; it was included in 4.0 and 4.1,

erro bluetooth

2015-10-21 Thread Manoel Pedro de Araújo
Olá amigos estou com um problema em meu Bluetooth. Nao consigo
fazer transferência de dados,

quando eu ligo meu pc aparece a mensagem: *Bluetooth hci0
 hardware error 0x37*

Uso Debian8 com interface KDE

Ja atualizei o kernel e continua aparecendo a mesma mensagem.

Alguém sabe como resolver isso?

Bug#802605: linux-image-4.20-0.bpo.1-amd64: Dell Airplane Mode Switch

2015-10-21 Thread Nicholas Cheng
I did some digging around the config files from the kernel source package.
DELL_RTBN was not set so I enabled it and left the kernel to recompile
overnight. I installed the newly compiled kernel this morning and verified
that the Airplane Mode Switch does work.

Bug#751955: initramfs-tools: Warning: error while trying to store keymap file - ignoring request to install /etc/boottime.kmap.gz

2015-10-21 Thread Chris Debian
Hello,

same exact problem here on an up to date Debian Jessie (64 bits). Some
days ago, probably after an update,, I suddenly had a rough time
entering my password on boot (LVM on LUKS, except for the boot) with a
qwerty conf while my keyboard is azerty.
It did occur also on first install of Debian Jessie, but then my
password was much simpler with no non a-z1-9 character, which was simple
to enter even with the qwerty conf.

Remembering the previous posts on this bug and the solution I had
already used, I then issued a :
Sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration && sudo update-initramfs -k
all -u

It saved my bacon.

Regards,

Very similar problem to bug #797779: I was unable to load the
brcmfmac43603-pcie.bin firmware sadly needed to use the wireless card
on a new MacBook Pro.

I downloaded the file from the github site, along with the .ap.bin
file (whatever that is), installed them, and now the wireless works.

Please could it be included in this package?

Thanks!
