Package: linux-image-amd64
Version: 3.16.7-ckt25-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Since yesterday (update to debian 8.4) some PC at work, hangs randomly.

All the machines freeze when reading e-mails, searching things online, reading
PDF, lauching PHP Storm, etc ...

All the machines are from Dell (tested on Dell 990 and Dell 9010).

They are all equiped with a SSD disk.

Updating to linux-image-4.4.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 seems to resolve the issue.

I found this in /var/log/syslog :

Bug#820422: linux-image-amd64: Suspend not working on lid close

It is an HP Pavilion g4-1016tx.

It shows:

#HandleLidSwitch=suspend
#HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore

I tried uncomment the first line or these two lines, neither helped.

> Do you have acpi-support-base installed? If so, try removing it.

I tried removing it, but that didn't help.

Václav Ovsík, being much smarter than me, has tracked this bug down and
found a patch that fixes it.

What does this command show:
    grep HandleLidSwitch /etc/systemd/logind.conf
?

Do you have acpi-support-base installed?  If so, try removing it.

Bug#819881: radeon_fence_ref BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference

I visited the Debian CDs/DVDs archive and picked Jessie 8.3 from there.
Probably the easiest and fastest solution for me.
Rock solid again.

Bug#820422: linux-image-amd64: Suspend not working on lid close

2016-04-08 Thread Fangwen Yu
Package: linux-image-amd64
Version: 4.4+71
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I installed Debian testing on my 5 year old HP laptop. I did a minimal
installation using the net install iso, then upgraded to testing, and installed
GNOME desktop. Everything works fine except suspending on lid close. When I
close the lid, the system is still working and becomes very hot. However, I am
able to suspend the system from the GNOME menu.

I also tried Ubuntu 16.04 which ships with kernel 4.4, and it has the same
problem. Kernel 4.2 works just fine with suspend on this machine, as is the
case of Ubuntu 15.10.

Bug#820182: Debian Bug #820182 (freeze when scrolling)

2016-04-08 Thread Dr. Johannes-Heinrich Vogeler
I have the same problem on a system with RADEON HD 6450 graphics card;
on my second computer with NVIDIA Geforce all is running flawless. Probably
the issue is due to the RADEON module.

Regards

Bug#820414: linux-image-4.4.0-1-amd64: Soundcards using ICE1712 chipset are not working; CONFIG_SND_ICE1712 is not set

2016-04-08 Thread Harald Gutmann
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.4.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

after updating from linux-image-4.3.0-1-amd64 to linux-image-4.4.0-1-amd64 my
soundcard based on ICE1712 chipset didn't work anymore.
The required module is not available in the new kernel image, so there is no
alsa device for the card.

hargut@benchvice:~$ grep -rHin ICE1712 /boot/config-4.
config-4.3.0-1-amd64 config-4.4.0-1-amd64
hargut@benchvice:~$ grep -rHin ICE1712 /boot/config-4.*
/boot/config-4.3.0-1-amd64:4891:CONFIG_SND_ICE1712=m
hargut@benchvice:~$ find /lib/modules/

/lib/modules/4.3.0-1-amd64/kernel/sound/pci/ice1712/snd-ice1712.ko
hargut@benchvice:~$

Please set CONFIG_SND_ICE1712=m in the amd64 image again.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Harald Gutmann
