Bug#855684: linux-image-4.9.0-1-amd64: Upgraded from 4.8+77 cannot shutdown without sysrq-sub
Package: src:linux Version: 4.9.6-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Upgraded linux-image-amd64 to above version. Sound no longer works. Attempts to shutdown/reboot machine via gui menus lock. Logging in on console and running reboot as root also locks. sysrq-s,u,b succeeds in rebooting machine. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? dpkg to reinstall older kernel (4.8+77) selecting 4.8 in grub: sound and rebooting capabilities work with this kernel. selecting 4.9 in grub: reproduces symptoms. booting (4.9) without usb sound device connected: sound and rebooting work fine. Dne 17.02.2017 v 11:47 Thomas Gleixner napsal(a): What's really confusing is this information from the bug report: " When I changed: Power technology: - from Energy Efficient - to Custom Energy Performance BIAS Setting: - from Balanced Performance - to Performance problem disappeared. systemd-udevd starts normally, module can be normally rmmod/insmod'ed now, load is 0.07." Miloslav: Is there any chance you can try a 4.10-rc8 kernel on that machine? I compiled 4.10-rc8 kernel with a stock '/boot/config-4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64' config from Debian Jessie backports. Then I reverted BIOS settings to previous state and rebooted the server. Kernel and all modules loaded normally, rmmod/insmod intel_rapl_perf passed normally. Then, without any BIOS change, I rebooted with stock 4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 and suprisingly, everything works, I cannot reproduce it. My knowledge on the field of BIOS are shallow. I don't know what I can do to reproduce the bug now. King redards, Miloslav

Bug#855017: [PATCH] ARM: dts: kirkwood: Fix SATA pinmux-ing for TS419
Hello, Adding in Cc all the maintainers of the Kirkwood platforms. On Sat, 18 Feb 2017 00:32:51 +, Ben Hutchings wrote: > +&pmx_sata0 { > + marvell,pins = "mpp15"; > +}; > + > +&pmx_sata1 { > + marvell,pins = "mpp16"; > +}; This is not only muxing mpp15 as sata0 and mpp16 as sata1, but also removes the muxing of sata0/sata1 pins described in kirkwood-6282.dtsi: pmx_sata0: pmx-sata0 { marvell,pins = "mpp5", "mpp21", "mpp23"; marvell,function = "sata0"; }; pmx_sata1: pmx-sata1 { marvell,pins = "mpp4", "mpp20", "mpp22"; marvell,function = "sata1"; }; So it means that MPP 4, 5, 20, 21, 22 and 23 will no longer be muxed as sata0/sata1. Is this really what you want? Best regards, Thomas -- Thomas Petazzoni, CTO, Free Electrons Embedded Linux and Kernel engineering http://free-electrons.com
Bug#852698: linux-image-4.9.0-1-amd64: nouveau seems to hang programs like lspci and Xorg
Just tested with 4.9.10-1 from unstable, with that kernel I have no issues starting Xorg on my PC with a nouveau graphics card.

After booting linux-image-4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 from jessie-backports, wireless interface stops working within minutes after system boot. rmmod/modprobe helps to squeeze some more and yields a warning: [ cut here ] WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 12725 at /home/zumbi/linux-4.9.2/net/mac80211/main.c:1201 ieee80211_free_ack_frame+0x3f/0x50 [mac80211] Have pending ack frames!
