Bug#906189: linux-image-4.17.0-1-amd64: Laptop does not suspend in 4.17 - worked up to 4.16

2018-09-07 Thread Christoph Haas
Does it suffice to know that the problem does not occur any more with
kernel 4.19.0-rc2+?

I could continue with the "git bisect" but it would take days. :(

Bug#908196: linux-image-4.9.0-8-armmp: Please set CONFIG_LEDS_PCA963X=m

2018-09-07 Thread Reco
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.110-3+deb9u4
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

I happen to have a piece of hardware (Linksys WRT1200 AC) which runs
stock Debian kernel flawlessly.
There's one small detail that mars that experience - the absence of I2C
LED driver for PCA9634.

Sincerely yours, Reco

Bug#908192: Acknowledgement (linux-image-4.18.0-1-amd64: After upgrade kernel to linux-image-4.18.0-1-amd64, LXC can not start)

2018-09-07 Thread johnw

I can start privileged LXC containers with 4.18 kernel,
Only can not start unprivileged LXC containers with 4.18 kernel.

Maybe the problem is lxc, not the kernel,

Bug#907175: 4.9.0-8-686-pae swapon failed invalid argument

2018-09-07 Thread William Salmon
Hi
We are also getting this bug where swapon failed at boot with latest kernel
4.9.0-8-686-pae on 32bit i386 Debian 9.4 VMs on VMware VM version 11 on ESX 6.0

I get this in syslog:
swapon[319]: swapon: /dev/sdb1: swapon failed: Invalid argument

Fixed it for now by downgrading metapackage linux-image-686-pae to previous
version as follows:

apt-get install linux-image-686-pae=4.9+80+deb9u5

which auto installs: linux-image-4.9.0-7-686-pae:i386

Then I did :
apt-get remove linux-image-4.9.0-8-686-pae
and re-booted

HELP!
Does anyone know how to pin the metapackage so unattended-upgrades does not
re-install :
linux-image-686-pae:i386=4.9+80+deb9u6
and the faulty linux-image-4.9.0-8-686-pae

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.17.8-1~bpo9+1
Severity: critical

Dear Maintainer,

after switching 4.16 to 4.17 (strech-backport) my system rendered unusable,
because the encrypted disk is not unlocked any more.
The dialog is missing.

Inspecting the initramfs shows that the cryptsetup related parts are missing
for 4.17, but still in the 4.16 kernel.

I was able to mitigate the issue by use the cryptsetup packages from buster.

IMO, if the issue is not seen with 4.19, you may want to continue test
and ensure that, till the final 4.19 release.

Given that 4.19 is going to be the next LTS kernel, it is the one that
should end in Debian Buster, probably.

Issue apply to testing kernel 4.17.*, kernel 4.18 installed to proof the issue

Due to the process hung the shutdown of the system takes 5 - 10 minutes where
message about "dead" udev process is printed into terminal.
No other issues currently visible.
