It seems Debian ships the relevant firmware in this package.

Could I impose on you to ensure that all is as it should be?

Many thanks.

Bug#896165: linux: request packaging of bpftool

2018-10-24 Thread Robert Haist
Source: linux
Version: 4.16.5-1
Followup-For: Bug #896165

control: severity -1 important

Dear Maintainers,

I would like to add the packaging of a direct dependency to the list: libbpf.
This library is most useful for using currently ongoing extensions of the linux
kernel towards a new high-speed packet processing layer called XDP which uses
eBPF.

One software currently in Debian that might directly benefit from this library
is suricata (https://suricata.readthedocs.io/en/latest/capture-hardware/ebpf-
xdp.html).
Please consider to maybe include this library in your current endeavors to
allow us supporting this feature in the suricata package and future software to
come.

Thank you,
Robert Haist

Bug#911743: enabling orange-fs in linux

2018-10-24 Thread Alois Schlögl

Package: linux
Version: unstable
Severity: wishlist
Source: linux

We are looking into distributed, parallel filesystems like beegfs and
orangefs. I'd prefer orangefs (mainly because of its license terms).

We'd like to use Debian/stable for this set up, unfortunately, the
current debian kernel has orange-fs support disabled.

Based on an initial response from
  https://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2018/10/msg00181.html
I'm asking to enable orange-fs support in the linux kernel

Thanks for considering,
   Alois

I see it got merged in 4.9 hence stable would be possible.

Unless it has other dependencies, which I haven't checked,
it is very likely an oversight.

Would you mind filling a wishlist bug against the unstable linux-image?
Then once changed this would propagate into Testing.
Afterwards this could be considered for a next stable update.

Thanks for your input!

Kind regards,
maximilian
