Bug#922072: linux-image-4.9.0-3-686-pae: A Hauppauge PVR-150 fails obtain any image when a camera is connected to the composite video input.
From: Ben Hutchings Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2019 20:27:24 + > The current kernel version in stable is 4.9.130-2, while you are > running a much older version. Please install the available updates and > re-test. Right oh. ... ... peter@imager:~$ uname -a Linux imager 4.9.0-9-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.9.168-1+deb9u3 (2019-06-16) i686 GNU/Linux > Note that "apt-get upgrade" does *not* install all available updates; > you must use the --with-new-pkgs option. apt-get --with-new-pkgs upgrade Before trying the Hauppauge card again, I plugged a Logitech USB camera. On the target machine, imager, cheese gives a segfault. On my desktop workstation the same camera with cheese gives an image. A seg fault strikes me as undesirable. The target machine has a Hauppauge PVR-150 card with an old video camera connected to the yellow RCA by a coaxial cable. peter@imager:~$ v4l2-ctl --list-devices Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 (PCI::01:04.0): /dev/video1 /dev/video25 /dev/video33 /dev/radio1 /dev/vbi1 Failed to open /dev/video0: No such file or directory peter@imager:~$ qv4l2 -d /dev/video1 and qv4l2 -d /dev/video25 give black viewers. qv4l2 -d /dev/video33 gives a viewer with low-density multi-colored snow. qv4l2 -d /dev/vbi1 gives a horizontal ribbon with low-density multi-colored snow. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks,Peter E. -- https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Oberon Tel: +1 604 670 0140Bcc: peter at easthope. ca

Hi, The CFP for the distribution kernel microconference is now open https://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/event/4/abstracts/ If you or a colleague would like to submit something, please go ahead. I know plumbers sold out very quickly but I do have a few passes I can give out if someone wants to present a topic but isn't registered. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Laura
