Bug#973870: linux: Please consider enabling CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF
Hello, it would be great if this makes it into Bullseye. BTF is not only relevant for tracing but for all BPF-related tasks, including for example XDP. According to [1], most other distributions (Fedora 31+, RHEL 8.2+, Arch Linux, Ubuntu 20.10+) already enable BTF. Having this in the next Debian release would be very useful. I installed the dwarves package and tested building the linux source package with CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF and it worked fine. Bug#974861: linux-image-4.19.0-12-amd64: frequent drops of wifi connection
Package: src:linux Version: 4.19.152-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I am running debian buster AMD64 on Xiaomi air 12 laptop (intel cpu and wifi) with KDE and network-manager. Since 21th of October I am experiencing frequent (0-4 times an hour) drops of the wifi connection to my Router (Fritzbox 7530) or the additional access point (TP-Link AC750 Archer C2). In these cases the connection is lost and I am prompted for the correct password. However, the password did not change and is still correct. Canceling the dialog and clicking connect in NM recreates the connection. Therefore I checked what has changed and found out that a new kernel (linux-image-4.19.0-12-amd64) was installed the day before. I then tried the buster backport kernel (linux-image-5.8.0-0.bpo.2-amd64) and also the previous kernel (linux-image-4.19.0-11-amd64). The problems directly disappeared for both. Booting again linux-image-4.19.0-12-amd64 the wifi dropped again. Therefore I am pretty sure that the problems are caused by linux-image-4.19.0-12-amd64. I experienced the same problem in another loacation with different router (also Frizbox 7530) and different laptop (Acer C740 with debian buster AMD64 running KDE and network-manager). While waiting you can try to use 5.7 if possible. Hello Georgi, Thanks for the advice. I figured it made sense to report this asap because it'd be easier to find the cause of the issue if there's only one version's worth of changelog to examine, but I can wait for future versions.

If you can trust them then, they would contain the mentioned patch applied. They furthermore are as well alrady based on 5.9.8 upstream instead of 5.9.6 as this is pending for the next unstable upload. Regards, Salvatore

Are you able to get some backtrace if you trigger the crash while beeing on the console? Otherwise netconsole might be of help if nothing get's logged. As you reliable seem to be able to reproduce the issue, can you try to bisect at first the Debian versions, if possible even already with the upstream kernel? The Debian versions can be fetched via snapshots.d.o. Cf. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernelReportingBugs#Identifying_when_the_bug_was_introduced and for source bisecting later on once a range could be tightened: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel/GitBisect Regards, Salvatore
