Bug#1027810: linux-source: I'd love to have a step by step manual on how to create the debian/ files on a brand new kernel

2023-01-03 Thread vmxevilstar
Hello,

./debian/bin/genorig.py -V 6.2-rc2
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git

downloads the correct kernel version but then all the rest of
README.source instructions try to build the older version ... why ?

Dear Maintainer,

I am trying to upload a new kernel source
I tried the debfiles of an old version but I cannot find where it has the
version number hardcoded

./debian/bin/genorig.py
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
Using source name linux, version 6.1.2, dfsg 0
Cloning into bare repository 'debian/genorigxct60re5/git'...

Main(args[0], options.override_version)()
File "/usr/src/linux-6.2-rc2/./debian/bin/genorig.py", line 48, in __call__
subprocess.run(
File "/usr/lib/python3.11/subprocess.py", line 571, in run
raise CalledProcessError(retcode, process.args,
subprocess.CalledProcessError: Command '['git', 'clone', '--bare', '--depth=1',
'-b', 'v6.1.2',
'https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git',
'debian/genorigxct60re5/git']' returned non-zero exit status 128.

I wish I can generate the orig of the kernel I have downloaded from kernel.org

Bug#1027807: linux-image-6.0.0-6-amd64: please put concrete version in /boot/System.map-*

2023-01-03 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: src:linux
Version: 6.0.12-1
Severity: wishlist

/boot/System.map-6.0.0-6-amd64 reads:

B The real System.map is in the linux-image--dbg
package

Could you replace "" with the actual version, so that one could
pass the package name directly to "apt-get install" without hassle?

found 1027444 5.10.149+2
thanks

I checked the system with an old kernel and I found the same problem.
I think the problem was sitting there ever since but only arose one week ago
when some other package triggered it.

Giuseppe

Package: src:linux
Version: 5.13.12-1~exp1
Severity: normal
File: linux-image-5.13.0-trunk

Dear Maintainer,

At booting 5.13.0-trunk with "iommu.passthrough=1",
freezes booting process at changing framebuffer
from EFI to DRM (by AMDGPU).

*Maybe* this issue *has not* happened
at older version DEBed images (i.e. 5.10.0-8-foo) with this
kernel command parameter.

And at this version, this issue has *not* happened
*without* this kernel command parameter.

Best regards,
Ohta.
