Bug#704073: [multipath-tools-boot] error when update-initramfs

Looks like /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/multipath is
missing the PREREQ/prereqs header (see e.g. initramfs-tools(8)), so
set this up (so the script works also outside the initramfs) and
*then* use ". /scripts/functions".

Guy,

I have prepared a deb package with the fix based on feedback from
Michael. Do you have resources to test this?

http://people.debian.org/~rrs/tmp/bug.704073/

Hi,

Thank you Ritesh,
I don't know how to test those packages. I try dpkg -i *deb
but multipath-tools refuse to upgrade because "/" is
multipathed ...

I can make some tests, my server is not a production server ...

Bug#665737: linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64: xfs hang when building quotas

2012-03-25 Thread Guy Roussin

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-41
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi,

I get a crash on debian squeeze when i try to mount a xfs device after
applying uquota in /etc/fstab :
/dev/xvda3 /users xfs defaults,noatime,nodiratime,uquota 0 0
There is around 1Tb on /users and 400 users

It is a debian squeeze amd64 domU (2 cores, 3Gb RAM)
If i upgrade the Ram to 12Gb there is no more hang for this domU

Bug#658294: closed by Jonathan Nieder (Re: [3.1 -> 3.2.2 regression] No more sound)

2012-02-06 Thread Guy Roussin

Sorry for the late feedback but 3.2.4 come only today on my laptop
And it works fine now !
Thank you
Guy

Hence closing, though information either way about whether the fix
works would still be very welcome. ;-)

Thanks for the quick feedback,
Jonathan

Bug#658294: [3.1 -> 3.2.2 regression] No more sound

2012-02-01 Thread Guy Roussin

Is there always trouble, or only when docked or after a suspend/resume
cycle? Can you hear sound through headphones? Does fiddling with any
of the knobs in alsamixer help? (You may have to press F6 first to
make sure you are setting the controls for the ALSA device rather than
pulseaudio.)

Thank you Jonathan,
yes i notice the trouble is *only* with "dock lineout" and kernel 3.2.
No problem with "integrated loudspeaker" or "laptop lineout".
I also test kernel 3.3rc2 and is fine with "dock lineout", "integrated
loudspeaker" and "laptop lineout"

Guy

The bug is closed on bugzilla (there is a workaround), so i think we can
close the bug.

Bug#593747: [linux-2.6] standy issue with my laptop Dell Latitude D630

Since upgrade to 2.6.32-20 (i think 2.6.32-19 is safe)
my laptop do not wakeup in standby mode (blank screen).
I need to press 5 seconds the power button to restart.
Downgrade to squeeze linux-image version 2.6.32-18 and
now all is fine again.

My laptop is Dell Latitude D630. I use proprietary video
nvidia driver (*)

Can you reproduce this if you don't use the nvidia driver?

I remove all nvidia stuff (all packages related to nvidia)
upgrade to linux-image-2.6-686 version 2.6.32-20, install
xserver-xorg-video-all and use 'nouveau' driver.
I try the standby mode 4 or 5 times with success.

2-6-32-18 + nvidia = ok
2-6-32-20 + nvidia = not ok
2-6-32-20 + nouveau = ok

I can make other tests if necessary,

Thank you Ben.

I made some more tests using snapshot.debian.org:

All linux-image-2-6-32 i test are NOT OK.
even kernel 2.6.32 from ubuntu 10.04 is NOT OK
2.6.34 from experimental is NOT OK

It seems to me that kernel after 2.6.30 (2.6.3[1234], ) are NOT OK

I test with 2.6.32-19 today (*) on a debian sid (i686). The problem is still
there.
I test also with an old 2.6.32 version (2.6.32-8) : same problem.
With 2.6.26-21 and 2.6.26-24 (from lenny) on this same host (debian sid i686)
there is no problem : i can see all files and directories.

Thank you,

Blank console text with kernel 2.6.8 and 2.6.9

2004-12-22 Thread Guy Roussin
Hi,
I want to upgrade my debian SID/kernel 2.4 to kernel 2.6.
If i use kernel-image-2.6.x : no problem, but,
if i build my own kernel (from debian source), i loose
konsoles text (Alt F1 - F6) !
During the boot process, just after the line
"Calculating modules dependencies ...", the screen becomes
blank with vertical lines (unreadable) ?
No problem with Xfree. But konsoles (Alt F1-F6) stays unreadables.
My config : MB K7S5A (SiS 735)/ Duron 1300 / Matrox MGA G400 AGP
I try to play with vga=xxx in lilo.conf but without success.
This is what i do :
# apt-get update
# apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7
No problem here if i reboot i get konsoles
# apt-get update
# apt-get install kernel-source-2.6.8
# cd /usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.8
# make menuconfig
  -> load /boot/config-2.6.8-1-k7
  -> save
# make-kpkg --append_to_version -1-gr --initrd --revision GR.1.0
kernel-image
# cd ..
# dpkg -i kernel-image-2.6.8-1-gr_GR.1.0_i386.deb
# reboot
With this new kernel i loose konsoles ... (note: idem with 2.6.9)

Thanks
Guy Roussin
