Bug#805775: linux-image-4.2.0-1-686-pae: irq 23: nobody cared - USB ohci devices hang afterwards

2015-11-22 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.2.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Device: Asus EEEpc 1201N

Recently upgraded the system to the latest packages, which included the kernel
image 4.2.0-1-686.
Before I was running inux-image-4.1.0-2-686-pae 4.1.6-1.

After upgrading, after a time, the USB mouse plugged into this laptop starting
misbehaving (very choppy mouse tracking). Digging through some logs led me to
the following report:

Removing ohci_pci and ohci_hcd, and reloading them, returns the system to
working state.
Removing the device in question did not resolve any issues.

Bug#742507: linux-image-3.13-1-amd64: radeon hd4850/hd3200 fails to initialise

2014-03-24 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.13.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***
After upgrading to this kernel, my graphic adapters (AMD HD4850 and AMD HD3200
onboard) failed to initialise.
A search led me to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76286,
detailing this as a kernel bug with the
runtime pm recently introduced on these cards.

Booting with runpm=0 fixes my graphical adapters.

Please import this fix for the next kernel update, if it isn't in the tree yet.

Kind regards

Jan

Bug#747467: linux-image-3.14-1-amd64: backlight control broken on dell xps13

2014-05-08 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.14.2-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

Hello,

Kernel 3.14 contains a regression wrt backlight control on the Dell XPS13
laptops.
Details can be found on http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76276

That bugzilla link also contains fixes: either revert a change or apply
another patch on top.

Would it be possible to consider either for 3.14?

Bug#711474: linux-image-3.9-1-amd64: backlight brightness on Dell XPS13 is no longer changeable

2013-06-06 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.9.4-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to 3.9, I can't reliably set the backlight on my Dell XPS13
anymore. using i915.backlight=vendor doesn't work either.

Using the patch listed at
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=97751, bug
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47941 comment 83, turns things
back into a workable state.

Please consider applying. I've rolled my own kernel with this patch for now.

Bug#956362: linux-image-5.4.0-4-amd64: resume from suspend to ram crashes on Asus Zenbook UX305U

2020-04-10 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.4.19-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Since Linux 5.1 (or thereabouts, I don't really remember) I've been facing
problems on/off with the suspend to ram functionality of the kernel.
Sometimes it resumes fine, but more often than not it results in a hard crash,
where I'm instantly greeted by the EFI boot screen.

Nothing is captured in the logs after the suspend, I guess it crashes too fast
coming out of suspend to do anything useful.
Windows 10 on the same machine has no issues.

It feels like something described in upstream bug
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203877. But I'm not entirely sure
how to properly
debug this issue.

I've tested with tpm_tis.force=1, removing tpm module via modprobe blacklist,
but sofar no dice.

Bug#948014: linux-image-5.3.0-3-amd64: fails to resume (immediate reboot on resume)

2020-01-03 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.3.15-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to the 5.3 branch of packages, my computer (Asus Zenbook
UX305U) fails to resume.
System is put in suspend (and all leds blink accordingly upon suspend) - but
when resuming the device via opening the lid
the machine promptly boots into grub, not actually resuming the session that
was open.

The logs report nothing in between the suspend and the attempt to resume.

It feels like this is https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203877

Bug#629173: linux-image-2.6.39-1-amd64: please add Apple Backlight support

2011-06-04 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.39-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hello,

Recently installed debian/sid on my Macbook2,1. Unfortunately, the backlight
support in XFCE doesn't work, which I tracked down to the following missing
kernel configuration parameter:

CONFIG_BACKLIGHT_APPLE

Would it be possible to add this to future kernels?

Thanks

Dear Maintainer,

Backlight control is broken using the keys Fn+F5/F6/F7 on this particular
machine.
Discussion on linux-kernel on https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98931

A possible (temporary) patch is suggested at comment 33
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=195071&action=diff

would it be possible to include this for now in the kernel build?

Bug#818487: linux-image-4.5.0-rc7-amd64: enable CONFIG_ASUS_WIRELESS=m

2016-03-19 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.5~rc7-1~exp1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

On my new Asus UX305, wireless control (rfkill) is handled by an 'airplane'
button, which is handled through ASUS_WIRELESS.
Please enable this module by default, so I don't have to rebuild te kernel to
get it ;)

Kind regards

Jan

Bug#394690: Confirmed behaviour on Dell D610

2006-11-07 Thread Jan De Luyck
I can confirm this problem. I've downgraded cdparanoia and this seems to have
fixed it.

Hardware is a Dell D610, DVD+-RW drive:

ata2: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 bmdma 0xBFA8 irq 15
scsi1 : ata_piix
ata2.00: ATAPI, max UDMA/33
ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33
  Vendor: SONY Model: DVD+-RW DW-Q58A Rev: UDS1
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05

using libata ata_piix with libata.atapi_enabled=1

Kind regards,

Jan

Bug#408093: linux-image-2.6.18-3-xen-686: causes problems with e.g. screen

2007-01-23 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-3-xen-686
Version: 2.6.18-7
Followup-For: Bug #408093

This limit causes problems e.g. with screen / ssh, if you have lots of
screens open, you can't get a pty allocated for your ssh session.

Please increase this value to the vanilla!

Thanks,

Jan

Bug#562008: linux-image-2.6-amd64: rtc wakeup timer on EFI doesn't wake machine

2009-12-21 Thread Jan De Luyck
Package: linux-image-2.6-amd64
Version: 2.6.32+23
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm trying to get vdr setup, and want to use a wakeup timer to wake the
machine whenever a recording is due.

Unfortunatly, this doesn't seem to work properly on my macbook:

macbook:/sys/class/rtc/rtc0# cat wakealarm
macbook:/sys/class/rtc/rtc0# echo $((`cat since_epoch` + 300)) > wakealarm
macbook:/sys/class/rtc/rtc0# cat wakealarm
1261434821
macbook:/sys/class/rtc/rtc0# cat /proc/driver/rtc
rtc_time: 22:29:03
rtc_date: 2009-12-21
alrm_time : 22:33:41
alrm_date : 2009-12-21

alrm_pending: no

update_IRQ : no
HPET_emulated : yes
DST_enable : no
periodic_freq : 1024
batt_status : okay
macbook:/sys/class/rtc/rtc0#

Alas, wakeup never happens.

RTC related dmesg entries:
