Bug#839041: linux-image-4.7.0-1-amd64: ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, Evaluating _DOD (20160422/video-1251)

2016-09-28 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.7.5-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

I already tried a lot of stuff to make the HDMI output in this machine
work, but without any success.

It's a notebook with a NVIDIA Optimus card:

$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 540M]
(rev a1)

Every time I plug or unplug the cable I see this in dmesg:

ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, Evaluating _DOD (20160422/video-1251)

I also see some warnings like this:

ACPI Warning: \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found
[Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20160422/nsarguments-95)

It works fine in Windows (so there isn't any physical issues with the
card of the cable).

Also, testing with an Ubuntu CD I could also get it working, without
having to install anything.
I can see that it's not using the proprietary nvidia drivers, nor
bumblebee nor anything similar it seems.
I also don't see any kind of warning messages.

I found one person having exactly the same issue at
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/220628/debian-intel-nvidia-optimus-hdmi-output-not-recognized
but without any success.

There are similar bug reports about AE_NOT_FOUND like
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/794503 but also
without anything that could help.

Since I can get it working by simply booting an Ubuntu live CD, without
doing anything, and also not seeing any messages in dmesg, I guess that
this problem could be related with Debian's kernel (or maybe xserver, I
am not sure).

I also tried to add "nouveau.config=NvMSI=0" (as you can see in the
command line below), but it didn't make any difference.

What else can I do to help with this, please?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Nelson

Doubut about machine hanging with reboot or shutdown

2012-04-30 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Hi!

Just a quick doubt about a machine that hangs/freezes when rebooting or
shutting down: should we report a bug against the kernel (so some quirk
could be included on it) or it's a problem that the user should fix?
(by testing the reboot= parameters and setting the one that works)

CC me, please.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Nelson

Two days ago I was editing a remote file (mounted locally via samba)
and got this:

machine crashed hard, without magic keys working nor anything on the
log files, I didn't report anything about this).

Today the same share was mounted locally (deleted one file from there
but I wasn't editing nor using any file when it crashed). This is the
only different thing that I see.

I don't know if this is related, but I can try to reproduce it by
accessing files from this remote location and working with it mounted.

Thank you!

Indeed it's reproducible by mounting the remote share (sometimes it
crashes hard without any kind of kernel message).
Was able to get this

Thank you again!

iwl3945: Loaded firmware iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode, which is deprecated. Please use
API v2 instead.
iwl3945: Firmware has old API version. Expected 2, got 1. New firmware can be

Bug#398948: linux-2.6: I can confirm that intelfb is not working

2006-12-19 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.18+5
Followup-For: Bug #398948

Hi!

I can confirm that the module intelfb isn't working.
Trying to load it I get intelfb: cannot acquire agp

It's reproducible with latest Debian's Kernel and with an own compiled
2.6.19 Kernel + beyound patch [1] (so it seems that the problem is still
present on more recent versions of the Kernel).

I am attaching the outputs of dmesg, lspci -vv and lsmod.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Nelson
