Bug#765112: linux-image-3.17-rc5-amd64: Kernel hangs for 5 minutes after resume: libgcrypt version: 1.5.4

This happens with all the kernels I have, including 3.14-2 and back to 3.2.0-4. If anybody has an idea how to fix or troubleshoot this I'm all ears. Are there flags to increase verbosity or turn on debug messages for the swap code? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#765112: linux-image-3.17-rc5-amd64: Kernel hangs for 5 minutes after resume: libgcrypt version: 1.5.4
Package: src:linux Version: 3.17~rc5-1~exp1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After changing my swap config the system now hangs for 5 minutes while the kernel starts up. This might be a duplicate of #724275 but it's archived and was filed against the wrong package anyway. This is what happened: I tried to fresh install jessie with debian-jessie-DI-b2-amd64-netinst.iso. Not sure if I made a mistake and had it reinitialize a swap partition of if it did it anyway, but after I tried to start my main installation (wheezy dist-upgraded to jessie) the system hung after displaying resume: libgcrypt version: 1.5.4. I let it sit there and after 5 minutes it continued, displaying resume: Could not stat the resume device file '/dev/disk/by-uuid/008c20b6-8055-4bb8-8a52-adceaf9de75b' Please type the full path name to try again or press ENTER to boot the system: Now that is a problem in itself (the system should display Waiting for swap device to become ready (5 minutes max), but that's not the subject of this bug. I have UUID based swap and resume settings: UUID=008c20b6-8055-4bb8-8a52-adceaf9de75b noneswap sw 0 0 in fstab and GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=resume=UUID=008c20b6-8055-4bb8-8a52-adceaf9de75b sysrq_always_enabled in /etc/default/grub. That partition is on a LV on a MegaRAID. The problem is that even after re-initializing the sawp partition with the original UUID the system still hangs and displays the resume: Could not stat the resume device file prompt after 5 minutes. I can't get rid of it - tried update-initramfs, update-grub, updating and reinstalling lvm2 and initramfs-tools but nothing helped. The system is still in this state so I can run more tests. FWIW I have a bcache partition. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 3.17-rc5-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.8.3 (Debian 4.8.3-11) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.17~rc5-1~exp1 (2014-09-18) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.17-rc5-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/megaraid-root ro radeon.dpm=1 radeon.audio=0 resume=UUID=008c20b6-8055-4bb8-8a52-adceaf9de75b sysrq_always_enabled ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 316.628140] ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff [ 316.628184] radeon :06:00.0: DVI-I-1: Ignoring invalid EDID block 1. After installing the 3.13-0.bpo.1 kernel it worked correctly again. But after that, booting 3.14-2 or 3.16-1 still worked correctly. I even switched to power cycling instead of rebooting but the behavior didn't change. The only differences in the initramfs between the version that didn't work and that which worked were in etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf and etc/boottime.kmap.gz but neither was the cause since making the changes by hand did not recreate the faulty behavior. I'm stumped. Also see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83742 where I entered a pointer to this bug. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#760881: linux-image-3.16-trunk-amd64: radeonsi DRM/KMS: Monitors on DP outputs not enabled
Package: src:linux Version: 3.16-1~exp1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, after dist-upgrading my jessie system, my two 2560x1440 monitors on the 7850 DP outputs aren't enabled any more. In the past, they were enabled when the kernel driver started. After X started (either kdm or startx), they were off but I could always get them initialized with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then they displayed X correctly after Ctrl-Alt-F7. Now they're not enabled when the radeon driver starts and I can't enable them with Ctrl-Alt-F1. This also happens with 3.14-2 so it might not be the kernel version itself that determines this behavior but I couldn't find anything but radeon.ko that might be responsible. The PITCAIRN_*.bin firmware blobs are from Jun 15th so they can't be the culprit and I don't see anything suspect in the initramfs. xrandr -q displays the correct modes and drm sees the monitors as connected. Earlier related bugs are https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723799 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72167.
