Bug#735428: linux-image-3.12-1-amd64: mei_me reset: connect/disconnect timeout in loop
Package: src:linux Version: 3.12.6-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, since some version of kernel I need to remove mei_me module. This module is loaded at boot time and spam the dmesg with mei_me :00:03.0: reset: connect/disconnect timeout. mei_me :00:03.0: unexpected reset: dev_state = RESETTING This happen every 5 seconds. I thinks this module should be patched to abort if there is a failure after x retries. I do agree: despite my disagreement with max on bug#457177 and (many) other issues of yaird, that does not change that Debian as a project has decided to only in its current stable release have decided to only ship with a single ramdisk generator - the one maintained by the Debian kernel team (or a member therof), and that ramdisk generator depends on udev. So I agree that this bugreport as filed is inappropriate and should stay closed. Ok, but that's weird that linux-image got yaird in depends in this case. It should only have initramfs-tools. I test it with alsamixer or aplay. Does this error still occur with more recent kernel and ALSA versions? You can close this bug. I works now. Bug#510621: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686: v4l1 doesn't work anymore with bttv
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686 Version: 2.6.26-12 Severity: normal Hi I got a v4l1 application that worked for years. With the current kernel, it hangs in a state where VIDIOCMCAPTURE always return -EBUSY. After some debug, it seems that VIDIOCMCAPTURE fails the first time because of videobuf_queue_is_busy 'vbuf: busy: buffer #0 mapped'. Then after that error it does a VIDIOCSYNC on all buffer. Then every call of VIDIOCMCAPTURE failed because of check_btres returning -EBUSY. I don't know what cause the first videobuf_queue_is_busy error. But for all the other errors I suppose one of the problem is that VIDIOCSYNC does a STREAMON but never does a STREAMOFF... Bug#478166: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686: airo hang when loading because of aes
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 Version: 2.6.24-6 Severity: important Hi, airo driver hang with 2.6.24-6 on a PIII. It seems it it because it need aes crypto. It will first try to load padlock-aes, but it fails to load Then it load geode_aes which load, and airo hang (airo seems to use geode_aes). Bug#354334: udev removal should remake initrd
Hi, maximilian attems wrote: severity 354334 normal tags 354334 +unreproducible stop your report didn't contain enough information of how initramfs-tools could have failed. anyway latest initramfs-tools in unstable now handles lilo and should work much better if timeouts were the trouble. so please retest with latest initramfs-tools 0.56 and udev 0.087-2 from unstable, report back or may have soon to close your report. My bug was about udev or initrd tools not clearing the initrd image or displaying a BIG warning that the user need to rebuild the initrd when he choose another initrd tools. For example if I switch from initramfs-tools to yaird, nothing will tell me that I have to rebuild the initrd image before rebooting. The fact that udev/initramfs-tools didn't work was another story. And I am sorry, but I can't retest this soon. IIRC there was missing udev script in the initrd image and sometimes udev failed to get /dev/console (or something like that). Bug#354335: linux-image-2.6.15-1-686: yaird should be prefered over initramfs-tools/udev
Package: linux-image-2.6.15-1-686 Severity: wishlist Hi, udev cause some serious problems on some configuration and make the system unstable. I believe the default behaviour should be to use yaird and let's the user switch to udev with initramfs-tools only if it wants.
